There are known documented examples of hemi Challengers with each of those hoods.

Anyone have a hemi wide lip lid that they’d part with? I'd like to find the correct lid for this NOS N94 air cleaner.

Thi scomment goes back to the original thread. Always wanted to know more about the 70-71 Challenger hemi cars with the TA hood. This entire thread has been very helpful and I hope I can add to it. In the 80s I had many 70-71 Challengers. Used to have 6 spots at Mopars at Englishtown NJ for many years. Got married in 1988, started a business, started a family and the cars and parts have be in my garage for over 30 years. Kids are all grown up and retirement is around the corner. So I am now getting back to my cars. With regards to the thread, I had picked up an air cleaner base that was supposed to be for a 426 hemi E-body with a TA hood. After reading the thread, someone said it should be stamped made in Canada, but I dont see this stamp. There are also no other numbers stamped or stickered to the air cleaner base. Attached are 2 photos. I saw a repro on line from Moperhoods which is beautiful, but it is missing some of the features that are on mine. Are there any other distinguishing features for this air cleaner base?

Very cool. The “Made in Canada” stamping was ink/paint. Looks like your air cleaner has been repainted, so the missing “Made in 🇨🇦 “ makes sense. I’m sure some more knowledgeable members will weigh in on whether yours is original or not. My guess is that it is (based solely on the patina).

iagree
the "MADE IN CANAADA" paint stamps and/or stickers are for new over-the-counter parts, not original assembly line parts

Just a few months ago I talked to the guy that owns the red Hemi T/A hood car. Very cool.

looks like the race cars used a flat piece of aluminum to seal the single 4bbl to the hood
I have 2 air cleaners - 1-drain & 2-drains, otherwise identical scope

iagree...stamped for and missing the ground strap but the N94 bases I have seen weren't stamped for and didn't have those....although I have not seen them all.
Your pictured base has the characteristics that indicate it is the real deal as stated by others....but out of curiousity can you see and count the number of spotwelds holding the outer ring to the base

Well, I don't chime in very much, but this thread irritates me.
Give credit where credit is due.
That 426 Hemi base plate for the N94 hood on a 1970 red Hemi
Challenger, auto car was sold to Mark Ainsworth, in IIRC Luling Texas
It was April of 1984, He called Me up the last day of March
It was a Saturday, I had just picked up a 71 RT, FC7
Challenger, shaker hood, rear rubber bumper, 383 auto on the floor
That morning.
He called Me that afternoon and offered me the 1970
Hemi Cuda, lime green, original 4 gear car, shaker hood was
There. But no scoop.
He offered to trade this project car, to me for the TA Hemi base plate
And air cleaner lid. I didn't do it. But passed it to Alan Vaset
In Dallas, and told Him if He would sell the R code Hemi Cuda
Project to Alan, and have Alan send me a cashier check, to let Alan
Get the Hemicuda. The previous story of getting a Base on this
From Terry McCann is not true.
I bought the base plate from Al McDonald in Jersey.
It kills Me how these stories are do full of crap.
One reason I don't stay active in the hobby.
Terry McCann can vouch for my Honest

I was the first plain old Hemi Owner that got the 3418 652
Hemi Shaker base plates remade by Fram in the summer
Of 1980, and sold them for cost to people needing one.
$ 63.75 plus shipping
No profit, it was not about money. It was about helping People
Get Their car restored. Also, off the top of my head,
Dave Blake knows me
Pat Blais

Mike Crawford
Ola knows me.
It is funny how stories are not factual.
Also. I have know Rick Olczak for 40 plus years.

On the N94, Six Pack 1970 Challenger, they made one I know
Of. It was about 50 miles north of Columbus, Ohio.
It has since been sold, and last I knew it was in
Michigan.
I will do some checking.
All I ask is Be Honest and tell the Truth.
I will Help anyone.

PM me for any questions, Thank You.

Randy

Thanks for taking the time to contribute to this very informative thread as it is always interesting to learn more.
Your statements about giving credit where credit is due, and that it kills you
that these stories are so full of crap, and about being honest and telling the truth,
seem to stem from the fact that you were the one who supplied the N94 base traded for the Hemicuda and should be given the credit.
If that is the case we commend you for setting the record straight.
Regarding the sentence ," the previous story of getting a Base from Terry McCann on this is not true ",
since I am mentioned by name, just to clarify,..... I obviously had no input in the writing of that part of the story as that sentence could be interpretted that way.
Statements on page 4 of this thread from 2010 are by Alan V ( xs29j8 ) "by the way , the gentleman the air cleaner was purchased from is "mccannix"
and by myself "I never could remember who got it or what happened afterwards because this would have been in the mid 80's ".
Yes you are well known in the hobby and yes I can vouch for you.... as I'm sure many others you mentioned in the hobby can.
It seems that the 'irritation' you have is the way Alan relayed the story,
It would be nice if he chimed in but he hasn't been seen here since 2020
All in all, in my opinion the thread is a good read and thanks for the valued contribution.

Terry, You have always contributed to the preservation
Of All Mopar Cars and I commend You for that. You know
I represent correct parts from the Six Pack Shaker original
Nameplates You got from Me probably 8 to 9 years ago.

I did do some checking on the N94 - 440 Six Pack Challenger
It is a 4 gear car and is now in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
If anyone wants to know more, PM Me and I would like to help anyone.
Have a Great Mopar Summer.

Anyone remember a black shaker 70 Challenger in Frankfort, Indiana in the mid 70's? I can't remember if it was a 340 or 383 car but it definitely had a shaker. Too bad the cell phone cameras were not around then, nobody carried even an instamatic in their cars then! I saw the car sitting on a street in the downtown area several times around 1975-76...

I get asked a lot if I have pictures of cars from back in the mid 70's.

I agree with Rhino that we never carried cameras in our cars back then....

....we carried beer coolers beer
