I hear it from a lot of locals and guys near the west states that they wish there was a similar version of ‘Drag Week’. I could see a good amount of spectators, drivers and media making the long haul to check out the event. Not sure California would be a place to have one of the races (state passed sound restriction on all vehicles) but I’m sure that other states like Nevada would be happy to host an event of racers. Curious what others think about this.

Frieburger has mentioned they tried an event on the west coast and attendance was not on par with the midwest/east coast locations.

They tried it once and it was a flop. For years the East Coast said if it was held there, they would for sure turn away people. They didn’t. Yet somehow the years it’s in the Midwest, it has its highest attendance.

It might have something to do with states, routes and track locations on why there was such a difference. With events like Holley Fest going on and bringing large crowds and better ways to get the info out like online sites and the popularity of modern street performance cars in the last 5 years could be enough to fill venues for good races.

Tracks are too few and too far apart.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

It might be worth it for someone to try it again since the Drag and Drive scene has exploded and can sell out multiple events per year.

I am not sure how good I would feel about parading a trillion horsepower of cars around in California knowing that 98% could maybe have emissions violations. That guy with a 2017 Mustang hat has a 98MM turbo and a 18" long 5" exhaust sticking out of the fender would likely do life in prison over there.

I used to go in and out of California with a deleted diesel pickup and that was always in the back of my mind.

Consider the number of big tracks east of the Mississippi. Not to mention the little eighth miles all over the place.
