My car had a hardware store bolt stuck in this location and I’m not sure it needed one to begin with. I changed to resto fan belts today and took the bolt out since it was rubbing occasionally on the back belt. The set on there had one super tight and the rear belt was just a bit more slack. New set isn’t like that and could probably clear the bolt, but it looks stupid and will always be a risk as a belt stretches. Power steering pump seems secure without a bolt in this spot. The sort of chewed up looking hole is where it was.

It would maybe work with the bolt turned around if I can get a wrench on it. Would rather have a factory bolt if one is needed though. Wildcat Wrecking never got back to me when I asked them a few weeks ago.

Appreciate somebody taking a pic or at least confirming what they have. It’s possible this is the wrong power steering pump or bracket setup as both a resto power steering belt and a common modern replacement belt I ordered are about a mile too short. This car does not have the classic “one finger” effort my other power cars had. Maybe just an issue of a bigger pulley cutting the assist back? That would explain the longer belt needed.

This is a 69 GTX with 440 with ac and power steering.

That’s a federal pump from looking on my phone. All of my 69 cars have the Saginaw pump. It’s a better pump and able to keep up with the pressure needs. The federal pump requires different regulation valves for each different application and they only came that way from the factory. If you got a rebuilt pump, no telling which valve you got. Dragon slayer is the man to talk about federal pumps. The only federal pumps on 69 still were c bodies, Hemi and small blocks. The TA/AAR federal pumps got the same pressure valve as a big c body in 70. Dragon knows more and has pictures. I’d get me a saginaw pump. The square hole you are showing is for a 1/2” drive breaker bar or ratchet to tighten it, not a bolt.

The mangled hole appears to be square hole you'd put a ratchet into for tensioning the belt.

No bolt goes there.

Thanks guys

The pulley looks to be the same size as what is pictured here. It’s way to big to fit a correct for the car belt.

Would a Saginaw lump bolt up to the bracket I have? Did they make those in a similar style to the federal pump? The Saginaw s I had were all later and had the teardrop shape, not even close to a federal in look. Also there is a trw pump that from what I know has a similar shape to the federal.

Correct. Bouchillon sells the brackets and pulley. You can find them for sale here. I saw one on for b bodies only the other day. They run about $200 or less.
