Hi All
I have a 1969 A12 matching numbers, A833 4 speed Road Runner. I am wanting to install a Center Force Dual Friction clutch assembly and flywheel on it using the standard cast iron bellhousing that came on it from the factory. Is a 10.95” disc correct as well as a 130 tooth billet steel flywheel?
I am not that well versed in this area and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

What is your bell housing number? That dictates Flywheel. Not 100% sure on A12, but I thought your car would have the cast iron bell housing for the 143 Flywheel for external balance. So you use the standard 11" clutch. In 1970 mopar went to the aluminum bellhouse for the 130 tooth with 11" scalloped clutch (10.95" disc). Either will work, but the bellhouse size determines the flywheel and clutch.

Just get a flywheel turning tool and a piece of chalk to mark where you left off so you don't lose your place, drop the inspection cover and count the # of teeth on your current flywheel.

Absolutely correct. BTW, the '69-1/2 A12's are all internally balanced.

thanks for the help so far. the bellhousing part number is 28922626 39028 - cast iron.

Hmm. Govier's book shows a separate number for '68 and '69 for the 11" BB cast iron bell. 2892262 for '68 and 2892626 for '69. I'm not going to stake my life on it but I'm sure they interchange.

They are, the 69 had the bolt pattern for a 4 speed or 3 speed trans I believe. But both are 143 tooth with larger bearing retainer diameter. Got you on the balance, they had normal but hand picked 440 rod right? 70 got the heavy rod external balance.

So.... you need an "11 inch" clutch and pressure plate. Remove the big spring behind the clutch pedal. I've had good experiences with that centerforce clutch

I would NEVER put a diaphram clutch in a Mopar, just MY personal preference, they were never designed for them...

I agree. I had a lady customer who wanted a soft pedal. The release rate on a diaphragm is all wrong for a Mopar. I called McLoed about it and said that’s correct. It was softer, just hard to release slow. I have a customer
with a Centerforce and it was better. Two more friends had diaphragm styles and just switched back to a borg and beck. They did not like them because of the fast release.

I have always used B&B plates or the BB&Long Mk12 adjustable that I use when I raced my car every weekend. I got a deal on a Centerforce II plate a few years ago and I said why not try it. I bought a Mcleod 500 series dual friction disc and with the CF plate this has been the absolute best street clutch I have ever used. But I am not one of those "Mopar or no car" purist snobs. Hell I even had a Ford 9" under my car for a while in my racing days.

I've run Center Force clutches since they came out and just love them. Have one in my 73 W200 and my 72 Dart. Had them in several other cars too. Have to remove the over cam spring from the pedal assy. For me the only better clutch is the McLeod twin disc that I use behind higher HP motors.
My W200 with the popup camper, 64 gal of fuel, John boat and loaded up with gear and people weights in at around 8500#. Climbing over rocks and four wheeling I've abused the crap out of it and it has never failed.
