In Connecticut, the Napa spray stripper is no longer available but my local Paint Supply place had a few cans left (I bought 4 of the 5 and left one for someone else). The counterperson said no restocking in CT but it was available over the counter 15 miles up the road in Massachusetts if I needed more.

You can still get the good stuff, but you'd have to find an industrial dealer that would sell it to you.

What are you stripping?
I've used old fashioned oven cleaner, yellow can not the blue fumeless.
Acetone for small parts.

The "good" stripper contains methylene chloride (causes cancer) and was in a gel form. Most other strippers I've tried don't work at all. Exactly what kind of paint are you stripping and what are you stripping it off of?

Agreed, Zip Strip (I previously mentioned) and Klean Strip both contain 60-80% Methylene Chloride...personally I preferer the Zip Strip Gel, if the OP is stripping plastic or fiberglass, keep an eye on your subject, as the stripper gets hot and can deform/warp plastic/fiberglass...

A buddy came across this stuff in a Corvette forum and it worked great for the fiberglass. Have yet to try it on metal.

That used to be one of the best strippers back some years.
If the present formula is crap, I doubt if any other typical brands are any better.
The real good stuff will have a very very strong smell.

You can thank all of the people who used products with methelene chloride, they sued and got it banned for public use because they were too stupid to wash their hands... I used to spray that s#it on with a bug sprayer to get enough volume to actually strip a large area....

Well it hasn’t killed him yet!! Plus what’s the difference between using that type of stripper and smoking on a cigarette? Pretty sure more people have died from smoking than using paint stripper and cigarettes aren’t banned!

Oh Yea: and sniffing spray can paint hasn't banned it also. So why the reply that isn't pertinent about strippers?
That early remover was very very potent. Even outdoors the fumes were bad.

Your post wasn't exactly pertinent either. My point being why does the government feel the need to ban some things over others? I've used that paint stripper many times with no issues. If used properly, I don't see and issue. Put a warning label on it and you decide if you want to take the risk or not. I used cigarettes as an example as most people that use them know it can kill them but in the end, it's their decision.
