So my buddy has a1968 coronet body and has a clip off of a 1968 Charger and wants to put it on this car. This is a ratrod build, so he don’t care how about originality. He likes the front look of the Charger and does not want to spend the money to find a Charger shell. So will it bolt on or need some modifications or will it won’t work?

Bolt on yes
Will the fender align to the door... I do not know.

Sounds like an interesting idea.

Actually, "Chargervert" used a Road Runner body and changed the quarters-decklid and taillight panel from a Charger.
The door of the Coronet sort of matches the fender on the sides but not the top. The Coronet lacks the distinctive ridges that the Charger has.

Yeah, I remember that car. I think someone did it at one time. I was thinking he could maybe modify the coronet fenders to accept the Charger grill. If he could make it look like what he wants, he’d be good with that.

Wasn't hard to find it on the web.

As mentioned the body lines will be an issue, but this guy made to save it I guess using a Charger door skin on the front doors frame.

[Linked Image]

Now, installing the door skin in a 2 doors Coronet... well, will be dealing to the next body line: quarter. 4 doors could be easier since the next door allow a line breaking between the Charger and the Coronet body lines.

more pics here, with sun over the body showing a bit more the lines matching job.

Purple on Mopars are maybe like the red on Ferraris I guess. With a difference, purple on Mopars were an available color in just couple of years

Sorry you had a bad past experience. I’m thinking with a 68’ grill, 2dr body and light mods to the door, he could have a decent starting point.
