Seems like a thread on this subject gets started every 3 or 4 months. Maybe a new section on Moparts should be devoted to insurance threads. The not a charger insurance section or something like that? grin
I got insurance through a broker who specializes in classic car insurance, Rally Insurance. A broker can help find people the best insurance for their needs.

https://rallyinsurance.com/

The company they’d set me up with got taken over by Hagerty about a year and a half ago, so I’m with Hagerty now. Hagerty is buying up smaller classic car insurance companies and entered into an agreement with State Farm to manage their classic car coverage. They are the 2000 pound gorilla of the classic car insurance market and at the rate it’s going, might own it all at some point.

I have had American Collectors through USAA. They have good customer service when I talk to them on the phone, though I've never had a claim so I can't speak to that side of things.

As far as "restrictions" every collectors policy that I have ever seen has them to varying degrees. Most of them seem very willing to customize policies and add/remove stuff. But if you start removing some of the restrictions (mileage, daily driver, racing, not garaged, etc) you should expect your rates to go up.

Switched over to Hagerty several years ago, after a few very good experiences repairing cars for them when I managed a shop.
Been very happy with them, and have added later-model vehicles to the policy since.
Easily the best insurer I've ever dealt with in every way.

Hagerty here also. Though never had a claim with them, I've been happy with their rates and the quarterly magazine.

How about NOT American Family Classic car insurance?

My son had them, his car got caught in a flash flood and went almost completely under water. They were trying to tell him that the agreed amount he was paying for was probably too much, and they were not sure the value of his car was that high. He had to call the State Insurance Commissioner to get them to agree to pay the agreed amount. Then he wanted to buy the car back (rebuild it with the insurance money) and they wanted to give him a problem with that as well. He had to call the State Insurance Commissioner on that as well. The worst part of the whole 2 month long ordeal is, the car was at a shop, and was covered by the shops insurance, American Family Classic Car Insurance would get reimburse for every penny they paid my son. The only reason he filed through American Family Classis Car Insurance was because the shop's insurance guy told us he would probably get his money faster filing a claim through my son's company. By the time it was all done, my son would have gotten the check from the shop's insurance about a week after he got the check from American Family.

Having to call a State Insurance Commissioner two different times on the same claim to get paid on an agreed value classic car policy isn't the reason we buy classic car insurance. Your experience may vary, if your willing to take the chance.

I'm doing my part, I told them I would advertise for them for free, as I changed insurance companies on every thing I had at American Family. Gene

Just a minor point, to get the magazine you have to pay extra to be in the Hagerty “drivers club”. I think I pay $49 for that and it includes towing.
I’ve never had to use the towing (knock wood) but my coworker has on several occasions. He’s complained it took forever for a truck to arrive. 3+ hours on his most recent breakdown.

I was with Hagerty for 20 years. Decided to shop around and Grundy saved me a little over $600 a year. Had to switch. So far it's been all good!

I;m using Hagerty. Choices are limited in Canada and the other one wouldn't even do anything for me.

Hagerty has both of mine currently

Back when I had my GTX and Challenger I had JC Taylor

Ive never had a claim against any classic car Ive ever owned . So I cant speak of claim issues.
BUT a friend of mine recently had one against his 67 C10 pickup.
Hagerty paid it no questions asked

Me too - got hooked up with them via our USAA policies.
Not sure how their premiums compare, but I'm willing to avoid the cheapest companies, and it speaks well for them that they have a relationship with USAA.
