I think the story on that one is that it exists in Canada, stashed away by someone who won't sell it and doesn't show it. Maybe not even changed much from those 40 year old pictures.
Like the story RTS cuda that seems to be occurring now, maybe someday the owner will die or get sick and it will see the light of day again.
Question I have, is this the car that was advertised for sale in an SIAC newsletter in the early 80's, IIRC "some rust in quarters $11,000 firm"?

Saw the the Challenger on the street in Toronto when for sale. Yes it is stashed away and it is not the only Hemi Car owned by this person. He will sell the Challenger but there are only very few that fit into who he will sell to. The person has the Challenger is not that old and will likely out live most on this board. What color was the Challenger for sale in the SIAC ad and were was this for sale. I believe the Challenger in the Ad likely was the body of a Hemi Challenger Convertible that was for sale FC7.

How many 1970 Hemi Challenger Convertibles were built in FC7? There was one in NJ, that was a FC7, black top, black interior, 4 speed, numbers matching.

The ad was very sparse, probably was in 1980 or 81. Didn’t say color or even what trans I don’t think.
I have all the SIAC newsletters stashed away but it would take awhile to dig out the container they’re in and skim through them. I’m going by memory but the some rust in quarters and a price of $11,000 or $12,000 firm was the bulk of the ad as I recall.

Here's one that was at the Nats last year. The older gentleman that owns it said his wife has a purple Challenger convert as well. I don't think hers is a hemi though. One of their convertibles was originally sublime but they wanted matching Challengers so one was painted purple. I'm not sure if this hemi car was the one that was originally sublime or if it was his wife's car.

That one is referenced in something I found online as being originally FJ5.
Surprising a car that rare wouldn't be restored to the tag. The fender mounted turn signal indicators are wrong and something looks off with the quarters behind the wheels, but hey it's better than any hemi Challenger convertible I'll ever own! thumbs

There were 5 known 1970 hemi Challenger Convts built in FC7. The 3 Canadian Convt Challengers I have seen all. FJ5 D21, FC7 D32, EV2 D21 and is the last one known built.

So what is the breakdown then, I thought there were 9 built? Or was that 9 US and another 3 Canadian? Using your number of 5 FC7, add 2 or 3 FJ5, 1 EV2, 1 F8 and 1 TX9 (Diamante)? is that correct with one being lost/not accounted for?

Way back in around 1975 I started collecting Hemi VINs. By 1978 I had 17 Vins for 1970 Hemi Challenger Conts Serial Numbers. I happened to come across a person that knew it more than anyone else I knew about Chrysler Number, the same person is were a lot of gg got his numbers from. This person explained to me how numbers were amassed. He told me there was 13 HCChallenger numbers. So getting back to the 17 I then knew there were fakes that were made even back in the 70s. I gave Ola N. all my information and he has the registry on convertibles and he can figure true cars from fakes. So what is considered the numbers is 9 USA 3 Can but those numbers could be 10 USA 3 Can. or 9 USA 3 Can 1 Ex. Canadian numbers are an absolute, and known via the VIN. US numbers are a percentage from the G30 G31 and could be off by one VIN or Not. So because of the US number being percentages there is that rounding off effect make the number close but not exact.

I have most of the Challenger information amassed over the years. The diamonte was TX9.

I think the owner said he's owned it since 79 or something like that.

Hmmmm.... I get the same comment about my Challenger's fender mounted turn signals, same location as those, I bought my car off the original owner back in the 70's, all original low mileage never touched, just a daily work to home driver,.....along with the R/T/Sport style hood with which fender indicators supposedly were not available......?

This was originally FJ5. Saw it at Weber Park Motors used car lot in St. Louis back in Spring of 74. They were asking 1500.00 for it. If only I knew then what I know now... whiney

My Challenger is a prime example of things that were not to be built together or at all. Until the History is know then an understanding on why it got built is easy to understand. The Original Purchaser of my Challenger walked out of the Dealership when ordering the car. His father had a big Bus. and bought a lot of Trucks from this Dealership and backed onto the Dealership. So the next day after the walk out the owner phoned and asked what was the problem. He told him he could not get what he wanted and told him what the problems were. He told him to come back in and order the Challenger. He was told the Owner of the Dealership contacted Chrysler and got the stuff put on that he wanted. I also know of a 426 Cuda 1970 sold new in Quebec, Canada that has a Rear Window Louver and a luggage rack, coded on the BCS and the Fender Tag and was on the Cuda and in Chrysler sales Literature it states you can not get those options together. Car in now in Alberta Canada. There are way things get built if you know the back door routes and push hard enough to get it done. I had to do this with a GMC Truck I had built going over the Dealerships Head because they screwed the order up when the truck arrived and a Zone Rep got another GMC Truck built for me. I worked at GM so I had just a little pull or knew who to talk too. There is one other person I know that took pictures of this Challenger sitting on the side of the road. One day I will ask him for them if he still has them. Back in those days Cameras were those kind you purchased in Walmart for Cheap and had them developed at the Camera Store or Walmart.
