Question is: when you adjust the 4 link bars either up/down in front or rear bracket, does that require you to readjust the diagonal track bar to keep the rear exactly in position side to side? In studying the geometry of my 4 link, moving the arms up or down should slightly change the exact position of the diag bar/rear axle location pulling or pushing the rear sideways. Is it so slight that nobody readjusts for it, or am I wrong?

Thx

That’s why I used a wishbone, but if P bar is on bottom bars I don’t see it changing, still on the same plain. Now if you adjust lower heims in or out then I think it would change

Do you have a pan hard bar? Or a diagonal track bar? With a diagonal bar the adjustment will change after a I/C or preload adjustment.

Yes…a diagonal track bar. So, after each IC or preload adjustment, you have to readjust the track bat for axle lateral position? Seems like alot of additional work for each adjustmant. Really didn’t want housing location to change with each 4 link adjustment. Do you all actually readjust diagonal bar after adjusting 4 links, or you just let it be.?

Thank you

Lets be clear
- A Panhard bar runs from the frame to the rear axle assembly parallel to the axel assembly - requires no adjustment with four link adjustment
- A Diagonal link runs diagonally from front to rear Diagonally from one side to the other and horizontally parallel to the lower suspension members - depending on how its installed should not require adjustment unless you are changing lower bar length (wheel base length change)
- A Wish bone is a three point lateral control that can be either mounted above or below the axle and with the single point forward or reward. A slip joint on the single point allows for the arc of suspension travel and any pinion angle change - does not require adjustment with four link adjustments.

If you don't touch the bottom bars, the diagonal doesn't need to be fooled with. You can twist the top bars anyway you want. The housing will remain centered and square.

Easy way is measure the driveshaft side to side at ride height to the rear driveshaft loop or 4 link brackets. Make your moves, confirm or correct side to side back to those dimensions. Eliminates having to drop string lines, etc.

Making a change on the bottom bars location? Don't loosen the jams. If the housing was square before, it won't change unless your brackets were installed by a blind man.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

I readjust it not that hard to get the axle housing back to center.
