Ok, i was asleep and put assembly lube on the seals of my belt drive🙄so, does it destroy the seal if run? I must think it does, since the instructions say no lobe. I am hoping to avoid pulling it back apart to clean it up, but figure odds on doing that are low. Your experiences, or info from jesel?

Greg, I have no idea. Those are the first rubber lip seals I have used with their dry coating.

CHECK CAMSHAFT END PLAY BY SETTING A DIAL INDICATOR ON THE FACE OF THE CAM ADAPTOR AND MOVE CAM FRONT TO BACK. ADJUST THE SHIMS UNTIL THE CAMSHAFT ENDPLAY IS BETWEEN .008” AND .012”. IT IS OK TO USE ZERO SHIMS, IF CAM ENDPLAY IS CORRECT.
REMOVE THRUST PLATE AND SHIMS. APPLY A VERY THIN FILM OF RTV SEALANT BETWEEN SHIMS TO PREVENT POSSIBLE OIL LEAKAGE. REINSTALL REQUIRED SHIMS AND THRUST PLATE AND RETORQUE NUTS.
* KEEP OIL OFF SEAL AREA. * BE CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE SEAL ON ADAPTOR KEYWAY.

How much shim did you need to get your cam endplay?
And what timing cover gasket thickness did you use (effects end play)?

I didn't need any of the supplied shims with an 0.047" gasket. (SuperPerformance brand)

Cummins engines use a rear main seal that is similar. My buddy put a light coat of oil on his, and it leaked horribly. Put the second one in dry, and no leaks. I’d be cleaning yours.

Jim, .008 thick gasket, one . 010 shim gave . 009 play, but shims had been lubed with assembly lube.

It is a Teflon seal, NO OIL per Jesel.

Brake cleaner should work fine & wont affect the Teflon

Any top shelf bourbon should work.

Starting Fluid / Ether is a very good cleaner if the smell doesn’t bother you or you are next to anything with a flame, it leaves a very clean and dry surface, it’s what I wipe down the surfaces with before gasket install. It will remove decal glue on paint and not damage paint etc. Doug

Sorry honey I spent the rent

I called Jesel, and the tech said use mild dish soap and it MIGHT work. So i ordered a set od double lip teflon seals, since that was his recomendation after my saying i wanted to pull 12+ inchs of vacuum.
So all looks good, but the cost. $130 for double lip teflon seals. On the up side, i have two important items for high vacuum. DLC coated piston pins, and good seals.
