Just had a weird phone call (on my cell)..........

Even though I didn't recognize the number, It was a local number so I picked up. What sounded like a kid, was asking me to help him find a phone number for a YouTube creator because he had a 'gift' for them. Curious, I didn't hang right up. Over the course of our (very) brief conversation, he said my number was easy to find and I was the guy with an 'old wagon'.......

I said I couldn't help and hung up.

Whisky Tango Foxtrot?

Should I be worried?

nervous

(is there a way to reverse lookup a number without paying for it?)

The advent of phone number spoofing has pretty well ended that information. Now days I just refuse to pick up unless I know the number or may be expecting a call back from a business. If they have business with me, they'll leave a message. If not...

I use usphonebook.com and White Pages to run numbers fairly often. Usphonebook is free to use. I have a White Pages subscription if you want to pm me the number.

i call myself quite often. oh wait, that's i TALK to myself quite often.......... laugh2
yes, the spoof number deal has gotten out of hand. even picking up numbers of my buddies doesn't guarantee it will be them on the other end.
we always look at the caller id, and if it isn't anyone we recognize, it goes to the mailbox. which is full, and i'm not going to empty it any time soon.
if we are out, we can see who called, and we can call them back if we feel like it.
it's just too bad nothing can be done about this. it's a big pain in AZZ for sure !

Usphonebook did the trick! up Thank you! It's not like I'm gonna go bang on someone's door, I was just curious if it was someone I knew or had worked with pulling a prank on me. I didn't recognize the name, so its still a mystery to me. While I try very hard not to put my number online, I've had the number long enough that I'm sure its out there somewhere.

It's been awhile but I have gotten calls from myself. shock Last year, I kept getting calls from "000-000-0000" confused

Cab_Burge you reminded me of someone I used to work with. Hispanics would come into the shop speaking Spanish, and when they'd ask him if he spoke Spanish, he'd answer in German or Chinese. TOTALLY threw them off. Their reactions were priceless........ laugh2

Your phone, your computer are always spying on you, hell even your router may be. My son in law was over the other day and looked up the value of his wife car on his phone, later that day on my computer, I got ads wanting to buy the specific make and model of her car. I still cannot figure out that one.

They are correct forget about doing anything with the supposed number it came from or anything said to you. There's even an app now for Police Officers to use to call complainants instead of responding physically that will put in a false number on a caller ID. Some people don't accept calls from blocked numbers.

Facts are stubborn things.

I was visiting my brother one day when he got a strange call on his cell. My brother has a real gift for gab and kept talking to whoever was on the other line. Since my brother was sitting at his computer he started hitting the computer keys real hard so the noise would be heard over the phone.
Finally, my brother told the caller, "Hey, I need you to stay still for about 30 more seconds."
I got real confused and, after a bit of a delay, my brother told the caller he needed to sit still because he was triangulating the call. Click!
That call ended real quick.
