Hot Rod Magazine August 69   Not sure I buy the part of the filter element being made just for them but possibly  The Brains getting a little fogged up  Somebody with one would have to do the measuring against the ford versions of which I believe there were more than 1  Yes, the early Ford type was pretty much the same, but equally as impossible to find...

Yep, the air filters are super hard to find and I never found one. If height isn't a factor, or originality, here is what I found.
1. There is some Mercedes paper filter that has basically no "plastisol seal" and fits...maybe a mid 80's something Mercedes? I can't remember.
2. I think the best way is to get a six pack K&N, trim it down and hold it together with bread tie wires & glue
3. If you can get your hands on some plastisol, wire mesh and filter media, you can actually use the air cleaner itself as a mold and make a custom air filter. I did that once with an oddball air cleaner I had on an old Ford and I used yellow plastisol for a unique look.

Was that the member who had the dogs in Washington States car {Tom}?
Also while posting here is some pictures for size reference to a Mopar CA322 filter commonly used on 2x4 Hemi, Six Pack etc.
The last picture is measured from dead center to side. So width is twice that I just got home from overseas and wanted to add some info... (Had to verify the air filter part number) 1) Yes, this is Tom's old Aussie Charger. 2) For this particular car I needed to trim the front and rear edges down to fit the shape of the hood so it would not rub. 3) I searched on-line quite a bit to find a filter element that would work, even had a guy at Carlisle show me what he was using. Anyway, what I ended up with was to buy 2 elements and make a small splice that added about 4-5 inches to the overall diameter and then shaped it to fit the form of the base. Fram air filter #CA3425 worked as it was the shortest height that still looked good. I just keep the splice at the rear and it is pretty much hidden from view. 4) I have no idea if Tom modified it or bought it that way but for sure a "normal" six pack assembly would never fit this car and not a fan of the three small round filters look.

Believe it or not Mr. Norm first used the three small chrome filters he bought at Western Auto we believe because they were cheap! So the early 71 Demon GSS's got those, then the Segal air cleaner later...

I have several paper air filters, most in poor shape, and I can't find a maker on any of them. The Ford filter is different. I have a K&N that isn't cut down and it fits perfectly. I have the number somewhere too. They show up in the catalogs from about 25 years ago and older, but K&N won't even reply to me about them. Be aware that the height of the filter is important. The original filters are only just over an inch tall. Most of them that are made to fit are 2" tall so they may still rub.
The finish on the one from the original poster is correct. I have seen them in red and unfinished as well. They are common air filter assemblies made by Segal, as stated, for Corvettes and Try Power GMs. The fact that they sell for so much is because people over pay.
