Hi,

Just came across this today. I've never had any dealings with them but I hope someone buys this business so that the cars aren't crushed.

Are there any cars remaining? Did they end up crushing most of them. They should have held a Mopar show there?

I haven't been to Mopar City for probably 20 years. If you have never been there, back then, it wasn't a place to put on a car show. Its out in the sticks on a pair of narrow blacktop roads with a few farms on all sides to it. His gravel (at the time) parking lot might have held 15 cars if some project wasn't parked on it. The nearest town was around 10 miles away, and it was not a big town. Hotels/motels were, and still are pretty scarce in probably a 40 mile radius of the place. Byron Dragway is probably 10 miles north of his location.

It was an awesome place to get hard to find Mopar stuff and Larry wasn't a bad guy to deal with, but it was not a great location to hold any kind of a show. That may have changed since then, but I thought he was pretty land locked back at that time. I was there shortly after he started collecting cars, then the property he was on looked huge, it looked a lot smaller and more crowded the last time I was there. Mopar City was probably 40 miles from my home. This younger aspiring Mopar head had visions of building my own version of the place, but other priorities got in the way. For him to achieve what he did was a serious commitment on his part, and I for one salute and thank him for his effort. He was a great asset for the Mopar community. Gene

Still in business for now, they are old school, call 815-426-HEMI to speak with them. Come by with a cool mil and it's yours! boogie

YES!!!!!! Whoever owns and is running that yard has a BIG Problem!!

Why not list 5 of those bodies-shells each week? Start with the good one's. Start with the Chargers? Start with the 68-71 B bodies? List the E bodies? Start somewhere!

Drag them out and put them in a place where they can be presented properly.

They are all just going to get crushed in the end. Why not save them. Such a waist.

It stated a lot of the matching number engines and transmissions are in the buildings. Why not match them up with the bodies?

Sell the bodies-shells for a reasonable amount instead of letting them get sold for scrap.

Apparently you have never met Larry. He raced pro stock back in the day, and even had an 81 Imperial pro stock car and recently found it and bought it back. He goes way back, and the best yard on the planet...

Jim, I agree, Larry was quite a guy, but it also makes sense to start sending the cars off to people that will love and care for them rather then trying to keep it all together for one big sale. He has been trying for the big sale for a few years, and it appears that may not happen. If someone may be interested in buying the entire lot, seeing a few get sold off might put a fire under them to get moving.

If bad comes to worse, and they do end up getting recycled, at least some will get into good hands before the end comes. If a guy truly loves the cars, a fire sale would be a much better outcome then seeing them all as pancakes. Fire sale prices would still pay better then scrap weight, the the stuff could live on rather then become part of a dam in China. Ultimately, the guy holding the parts is the guy making the decision (or his kids after the fact). Gene

If there were a way he could list each vehicle with a few pics (I know that's probably just NOT possible) that would be great.

Maybe I'm just cynical but if the link above is over a year old and it was proclaiming a fire sale then, this is starting to sound like a furniture store that had a going out of business sale that lasted four years. Plan 'A' might have been the first one but I think it's time for Plan 'B'. But as the old saying goes, my name isn't on the front of the building.

Is that a million for the Land, buildings and everything on it? Sounds like a good investment. (If I had a Million Dollars laying around)...

Looking for affordable Cuda parts

Its not just the Million $$. Its the time to recoup the investment. Would be interesting to really look at what is there from a parts perspective. Based on some recent sales on Ebay for "shells' that appear to be beyond saving, it would seem like the money is there.
