I have a loose mirror glass on a right side chrome remote racing mirror. It just flops around kinda loose and won`t stay in place. Is there any way to repair them? It looks like it my be tough to take apart without damaging it. Any advice?

Pull the mirror off the car and soak it in a bowl of lacquer thinner for about 24-36 hours. The mirror glass will just fall off and will give you plenty of access to tighten up the ball/socket. I used a bit of "liquid nails", a construction adhesive from Lowes or Home Depot, to glue the glass back in place. I did this to the mirror on my Road Runner over 10 years ago and it is still good. I covered the bowl with a bit of tin foil to keep the evaporation down.

Acetone works as well. It's best to cover the container to contain the fumes but do not seal it. wink

On RS mirrors, get some thinner med. size philips s-driver and bent them to fit screws.
There's only 2 screws. Slow going but has worked for me.
I'm assuming it doesn't have the 3-cable arrangement like LS mirrors.

PhillyRag, Good question, I will have to check to see. So are you saying the mirror glass won`t need to be removed if I used the bent screwdrivers?

Which side are you working on? Your thread title says Drivers side and in the thread it says right side. The bent screwdriver trick will only work on the passenger side mirror.

Yes: 2 screws removes entire glass assembly. Then you'll have a better view of rear side & why wobble.
