So I was dropping the 360 into the PowerWagon, and of course...had to break something. Snapped the oil dipstick tube right off at the block. Nothing to grab with pliers. Was thinking a screw extractor? Maybe put a large screw into it and try and pull it? I don't want metal shavings in my oil pan...obviously. Any tricks to get this thing out? Dave in Colorado

Thread a tap dipped in grease into the remains.
grab with vice grips pull it out.
been there,,,,,done that If you are able to get decent thread established, a long bolt with a slightly larger spacer if positioned correctly will pull it straight up Another method I have had some success with is to collapse the tube with a small punch until you can grab onto it and pull it out. Or a left handed Drill bit with grease to grab the chips will sometimes bite enough to spin it out. The screw extractor will likely expand the tube

Tried to get a good tap into it, my handle is too short, even after pulling the fuel pump. Looks like I need to get an extender.... One of these may help, TAP HANDLE LINKYthey are also on Amazon. I have 8 point sockets that work well with extensions. Another idea would be to weld a bolt to the end of a tap so you can use a regular socket keep us posted

The last one I did I screwed a screw into it and tapped it out using a screw driver as a punch from under the car. Took longer to figure out what screw to use than do the job.

Will it get sucked up into the pickup screen ? Probably not. Will it cause a major restriction? I don't think so. Knock it through with a pin punch or a push rod like cab said and install a new one. I have found worse stuff in oil pans from perfectly good running engines Gus Your suggestion made me think that doing so, one may be able to fish the piece with a small flexible Magnet, or a larger more powerful magnet on the bottom of the pan should grab the piece and allow one to pull it over to the DP opening Myself, I'd either try the tap first or collapsing the side as previously suggested. Both have worked well for me over the years I would say if this idea is attempted, try, if your feeling lucky, to fish a thin wire (like TiG copper filler rod) thru the broken oil dip stick and out the drain plug, and if successful, punch the broken tube into the pan, put a small"hook" on the dip stick end of the wire, and carefully extract the wire and broken tube thru the oil plug hole....?????????
