I'm getting ready to start buying parts for a 6.1 or 6.4 Gen 3 Hemi build to use in my 1967 Satellite, which stock heads flow best?
What do they flow stock and is it a good idea to buy them new from a car dealer?
I've drag race Mopar on the street and track starting in 1964 with my mother's Dodge 270 4 door with one of the first 273 C.I. motor in SO CA back then
The Gen 3 are not in my wheelhouse yet but your never too old to learn, huh devil
I've made 920 HP with a 541 C.I. N/A B1 motors several years back with a single carb on a cast intake manifold, I've built lots of BB wedges and L.A. stroker pump gas motors but no Gen 3 yet shruggy
All help appreciated: up:

6.4 is best, There are two different materials used truck head and car head, the truck head is better but otherwise identical and you would probably never notice the difference. I would lump the 6.2 hell cat head in here as the ports and everything are the same but the intake bolt pattern is different to bolt the stupercharger onto.

6.1 and eagle 5.7 are very similar flow wise but I would take the smaller closed chamber of the 5.7 over the 6.1 head

The worst is the early 5.7 but they flow bone stock about what the best fully ported SB head flows

[I would say the 6.4 and heads are right up there as far as stock heads go,I think they put out 485 HP stock.

I always buy mine used, they hardly show any wear and for max performance you would probably want to do your own VJ anyhow and maybe mill to your surface spec and chamber volume.

I don't see where you stated a HP goal but if that 920HP is any indication what you are after your gonna need a heavily ported 6.4 head, most pros are claiming in the ballpark of 400 CFM and a lot more low lift flow than a typical 400CFM wedge head.

A stock 6.4 SRT8 long block makes close to 580 HP with a proper intake manifold, carb and headers bolted on.

I'm not looking to build an all-out pump gas motor on my first attempt, if it makes 500+ HP on Oregon pump swill I'll probably be happy up boogie

Thanks up
I'm thinking of starting to look for a used 6.2 or 6.4 junkyard motor in the spring, April or May luck
I'm debating on which EFI brand and or controller to use also confused help on what to use
I have used Holey Sniper and Terminator EFI systems in the past, but no way do I know enough now to make a wise decision on this deal help

Holley has everything you need , have seen people use the HP efi, terminator uses the same HP ecu IIRC just a little different software

be carefuel here, the terminator and HP use the same ecu, the terminator is not potted ecu (if this matters to you) . ALSO the BIG little detail, the terminator X is not the same as the terminator / HP. it is not nearly as good.
