Is the LA and Magnum timing chain the same ?
Also what B&M flex plate are you using on the magnum with a 727 ?
Thanks , haven't messed with SB stuff in 25 years .

Magnums have a short snout camshaft because they don't have a fuel pump eccentric. The sprockets and chains can be swapped but the attaching bolt and washer is different, all magnums come with a silent link chain.
As for the flex plate B&M should know, I don't.

The Magnum and LA are balanced differently. B&M flex plate for the Magnum is 10242. There is a cam snout adapter to run a mechanical the fuel pump with a Magnum cam and LA front timing cover. You need a 45 degree adapter at the bypass hose to run the LA front cover.

I believe only the 5.9/360 magnum require a specific flexplate.
I also believe the 5.2/318 Magnum is internaly balanced.
