Some of the comments in that thread are appalling. Guy in the Vette did something stupid and it cost him his life. I'm glad he didn't take anyone with him. But these [censored] ghouls who wished him dead, are glad he's dead, etc...horrible people.

Just proves how fragile we as human beings are. It's amazing any of us make it past about 25. I'll bet the driver of the 'Vette never guessed he wasn't coming home that night.

Well, he seriously injured someone else with his antics. There was also a child, uninjured, in the truck. Both could very well have died because of his stupidity. Am I glad he's dead? Nope. Am I glad he can no longer put other's in danger with his stupidity? Yep. Some errors are self correcting and I am not going to lose sleep over this one.

A blink of an eye, man. I've witnessed 2 fatal crashes (2 guys on Harleys killed by a car, and 2 people cut in half by a guardrail that penetrated the passenger front door of a car). I wish I'd have never seen them. Horrific. I've also seen the aftermath of probably 200 fatal crashes over the years, due to my job. Valuable lessons to be learned for sure. I get not having sympathy for people who bring it upon themselves via stupidity, but there's a big difference between not having sympathy, and finding joy/satisfaction in it. I have zero sympathy for people who ask for it, and get it. But I'm also not wishing it on anyone, or tap dancing on anyone's grave.

Wow the wreck and the comments on that page are sobering.

I feel for him and his family. Was it a bone head move, meh probably but I can guarantee you every single person on this site has nailed the throttle on a straight road and expected the car to go straight. Ours did, his didn't. If everyone were to pay the ultimate price for doing exactly what he did we would all be dead.

I would have less compassion for the guy if he had been acting a fool or outrunning the cops. He was going with the flow of traffic and hit the gas, maybe to show off and maybe that electronic crap that controls the car went wonky, we don't know. To wish someone, or be glad someone is dead for a mistake we have ALL done is pretty sad in itself.

He was 36, at that age I had 2 kids in High School and a wife at my side. My mom, dad and siblings were all alive. There is a strong possibility at his age he was in a similar same boat. Tonight all those people who loved him won't see him again. Just because he did what every car guy has done plenty of times.

So I do feel bad for him and his family, although I understand those who don't loose sleep over him. That's a justifiable opinion in it's own right. Not those who were happy about it though.

Then again he could have been a douche and the world's a better place. So I choose not to judge but prefer to think him a good person. twocents

Probably the only fortunate thing in this is that he slid into a full sized truck rather than a smaller vehicle. The outcome in that case may well have been even worse.

Man, that 'Vette just disintegrated.

This right here. Yes, I've nailed the throttle on a road, who hasn't. But not in traffic like that, unless I was on a bike trying to avoid some clown in a 4 wheeler trying to kill me.

Absolutely. Had he hit another car instead of a truck, I'd be very surprised if there weren't other fatalities.

Yes very fast. If it wasn't for the sound of his engine spinning up, I wouldn't have even known what happened.

The guy was just calmly riding alone with traffic and then suddenly the car went HARD left. Almost like a broken left axle or something.

I didn't see what year the Z06 was but it was new enough that for it to do that he would have had to have turned off some safety features. Most any traction control setting would probably have caught that.

I think its the rear gear that contributes to some of these things with the vettes and mustangs. Both seem to be able to quickly change direction under power and end up crashed.

Here is a link to many vette issues and the same can be found for the stangs. Dont see a lot of mopars doing the same for some reason.

It’s not the rear gear it’s the guy behind the wheel that goes from a front wheel drive grocery getter goes and buys a high powered rear wheel drive vehicle with no experience driving a high powered rear dive vehicle. They decide to show off, turn the traction control off and end up losing it under hard acceleration. The problem is they just don’t know how to handle that much power. Yes MOPARs have the same problem with an inexperienced driver behind the wheel. A limited slip differential with both rear wheels spinning on street tires on the street will send you drifting every time under full throttle. My 512 powered 69 Super Bee and my Gen lll Hemi powered 55 Dodge pickup do same thing.
