I’m trying to recruit some cars to register for a 2022 MCACN feature display. The display in next November’s show is going to be of Malaise Era Muscle, the forgotten cars of 1973-1983. This is an all makes display, and so far Bob Ashton is targeting a display of up to a dozen cars. Sadly that means I’m initially limited to only a couple cars from each make. I’m hoping if we get enough cars to register their entries early on, he might allow the number to increase somewhat. My initial Mopar wish list is for a ‘75 roadrunner and a Dodge Super Coupe. I have a Magnum GT, and am trying to convince a local friend to register his survivor Kit Car, but if someone with a Kit Car is interested let me know, in case I can’t twist his arm to sign up! As most everyone knows, MCACN is a high quality nationals show, so display cars need to be nice stock survivor or restorations. (With the exception of Ryans Barn Finds section of course!) Anyone who has one of these or a friend with one who is interested please let me know, PM me here for details! I have a few leads and contacts on “the other guys”, but a few obscure cars I’m beating the bushes seeking leads on are a Chevy Monza 2+2 V8, and Ford Mustang King Cobra and LTD II Sport if anyone knows where any nice examples lurk.

Will be watching this. My '76 Charger Daytona probably isn't MCACN-worthy, much as I'd like to think it is. Outside of a fuel tank mod, it's still pretty original at the moment.

Are you talking about B.A. in Michigan for a Kit Car? I don't know any Super Coupe owners - I used to own one though!

I have a friend here in northern Illinois (whose a member here) who has a survivor Kit Car, and I talked to him the other day and he says he is going to submit an application for the show. I’ve heard there’s a guy in Michigan who has 2 Kit Cars? I can’t even remember the last time I even saw a Supercoupe. Well I had a Ford Super Coupe Thunderbird for a number of years which I saw every day, but I’m talking the Mopar version! I sure hope I can find someone with a nice one to enter the show to be in this display!

Great idea. Do you have a picture of your Magnum that you could share?
Dave Here is my car I bought last summer. It's a '78 with a E56 360. I'm an E body guy since my teens, and this is my first B body. So far I'm really enjoying having a larger and more comfortable to drive car to take to shows and cruises. Not to mention having a car you almost never see at shows! This is my first go at recruiting a feature car display and it's been pretty fun researching all the different cars from that era and networking with car enthusiasts to get leads. If we succeed in getting a nice variety of the big 3 plus AMC's cars together for the display I'm sure it will be a pretty interesting and attention getting part of the 2022 show! The main feature display rotates among the big 3 every year, and this year Mopar is it! There will be a huge row of wing cars displayed when you first enter the show. If you are on the fence about attending, this is a good year to plan to go!

That is a beauty, I love the white interior. I have always liked the 1978-79 Magnum GTs myself. The fellow you bought that from just happens to have a survivor Kit Car now. I have been to MCACN 2x now, great show for sure. Good luck with your display...if I make it I will be checking it out for sure.
Dave I love the Magnums too and that one is beautiful in that color and interior and with the E58.

The gold one is one of the restored ones that I was thinking of. The Survivor is white and is from PA.
Oh, I know people come from all over for MCACN!!
I will email the Super Coupe owners that I can find from the last couple of years and let them know about this display. All I will have is info that they have a Super Coupe but I probably won't be able to connect the name with their exact car. I don't get photos of each car that I can tie to a name. In other words, I don't know how nice each car will be (if that makes sense). But I will have them reach out. Is there an email address for you or should I give them Bob's email?
Ed My email is brads147 at comcast dot net, or they can reach out to Bob also at bashton426@gmail.com. They can even submit applications directly through the MCACN website and put "Malaise era muscle per Brad S" in the Feature/club section of the entry application form. Thanks for the help!

I'll email my buddy with the Kit Car to see if he is interested in displaying the car. He did attend this MCACN - it was his first one & he loved it.
Here's a Super Coupe tease:

Pretty much every Dodge & Plymouth dealer had one - for a long time. Seemed I'd see one sitting outside at almost every dealer I drove by. I think they were a pretty hard sell. I loved them though.
