Doubt that will pass NHRA tech. That is of course if your track actually techs your car.

Nope.

Must pass between your shoulder and elbow when in normal seated position.

Swing out bar is the only option.

Or as stated, only race at places that don't check or care.

I have done stuff like that in the past for restomod street cars with the understanding it would not pass tech. Owners were OK with that.

I would check with whomever is going to do your chassis certification.

I had a question about my cage several years ago when I started planning to run NHRA Superstock.

Neither the regional tech director or the national office would answer my questions about what I thought might be a deficiency.

They both just said, get it inspected. I did and I got a sticker with no issues and no issues since then.

This is a stocker and/or just a bar as opposed to a cage? No cert.

Going to divisionals and national events? It needs to be right. They will put you in the car and look at it if there's a question. They will make you cut it out if they don't like it.

Rulebook is cut and dry. The guy doing the inspection is the one who will decide, but I always went by the book and planned for the hardass.

"Sidebar must be included on driver's side and must pass the driver at a point midway between the shoulder and elbow. Swing out side bar permitted."
