One of Five 1971 Plymouth 'Cuda Convertible with a 440-6 and a Four-Speed
The white 71 Hemicuda was bought new by a friend of mine, Bill Gatterer. He was trying to buy it back when John Bartle bought it and the did his restoration on it.
There are a couple of videos of the white Hemicuda on youtube.
and
He got both the white 71 Hemicuda and the red 71 Hemi Challenger when John Bartle was going through a divorce.
I remember when John had just finished the restoration of the red 71 Hemi Challenger, he had it at Monster Mopar at Gateway and was doing insane burnouts with it.
When someone asked if he was worried about hurting the car he said "If it gets messed up I'll fix it and redo the car again if I have to. I built it to drive it".
Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

Interesting note on the 71 6 pack rag, Dave Wren ordered this car, he was a well known factory racer in the northwest. he bought a car from me many years ago, after his racing days. I asked him about this car, why he didn't order a hemi convertible instead. his answer was that the factory was supplying him with all the built 426 hemis he needed. he didn't want to spend the extra 400 or 500 dollars since he didn't need the hemi engine option. he got rid of the matching engine right away.

Clarification: he didn't want to spend the extra 400 or 500 dollars from his racing budget. he could buy other parts. that amount of money could buy a lot of parts back then.

I don't think anyone doubts you at all!. That car hasn't gotten out too much from my knowledge and it is always nice to see pics from back in the day. I saw it once- so cool. I like billboards but preferred it in its original "plain" state.

Huh?? Didn't know that. I've been to Tom's on several occasions and have seen it there ... it's a very nice piece. Curious as to where Bill bought it from?? The path that some of these cars take from their delivered dealership to their present home can be quite remarkable. Thanks!!
Cheers! Tom

Love it!! Wish I would have witnessed him saying that!! Monster Mopar at Gateway was a great show. I miss that show being that it was right here where I live. What was the last year of that show before they got into that contentious legal squabble over the naming rights or whatever it was that led to that show's demise ... 2012?? 2013??
Cheers! Tom

I believe about 2012, it was the year that Gateway got closed. Scott Sieveking (RIP) didn't think that Gateway was ever going to reopen and he sold the Monster Mopar name to Josh King. There's a whole story about that debacle, but it doesn't need to be here.
Another John Bartle story would be him having Ronnie Sox make a pass in his new Viper RT/10 at Monster Mopar back in the early 90's. It was tha(same time frame as when he had the Cuda and Challenger Hemi cars along with a bunch of other cool, rare Mopars.
