Anyone who is running a truck timing cover on their G3, what intake are you using? I am going to be running a procharger, with the truck bracket, and therefore have to use the truck timing cover. The early 5.7 intake I have will not work only because I cannot adapt a cable throttle body to it (the adapters available will not work on this manifold) and thus I am needing to find a manifold that will work. Factory 5.7 truck eagle? Holley sniper? Holley hi ram? Ritter with drilling for injectors?

I've seen people use both car and truck intakes with the truck cover, you just have to grind it to use a car intake. The eagle truck intake is supposed to be the best for midrange tq.

That is good to know on the Eagle intake, thank you! I thought in order to use the car intake you had to modify the cover as well as re route accessories.

That looks fantastic! Is there any benefit of the prefix intake vs the ritter? Does the prefix come ready to run port wise?

a guy was on here a year or 2 ago, had a Dart. I think he actually used the 6.1 intake with a truck cover - he just ground on it to make it work.

I also need to use a truck cover for the turbo 5.7 I'm building for my Coronet because I need piping to go down where the oil filter and alt goes in the car arrangement. But I plan on just using the eagle truck intake, there's enough clearance in my car for the upturned TB

thanks for the compliments, my son has some skills. I don't think there is any difference between the Ritter and the Prefix. I know the Ritter has a tall and short version and drilled for Port injection as well. the prefix can be offered as non efi or efi. the intake i think machined for the port injection is like $695 and the prefix is only one height.

I think the cost is fair its a really nice intake.

Thank you

I'm planning to use a truck cover with the holley high ram. Pretty sure I can still mount the alternator up top if desired but may adjust depending on where the turbo headers come out.

The Ritter and prefix are the same besides height? I did not know that.

Thank you for this pic! I have been considering the hi ram, but wasn't sure if it would work with the truck cover but also how far up it rises above the hood line. I have a cowl hood, but wasn't sure it would fit under it. How is your engine mounted?

Engine is mounted with the holley adapters to stock k frame engine mounts. Pretty sure it wont clear the at least a stock hood but a cowl may be fine. See attached pic, this is in a 66 belvedere when I was doing some mockup, never had fenders or hood on when I had the engine in too see but it sits pretty tall.

If not the same they are really, really close.

It will most likely come down to the Prefix or Hi Ram for me. The only thing stopping me on the high ram is the possible hood clearance issue, as it is awfully high more so towards the front of the engine bay, which by nature of design my cowl hood is not, and may potentially be a close call on fitment. Im not looking to replace my hood or cut a hole in it either .

Can you flip the hi ram top backwards? It would draw air from the back of the cowl and probably fit the profile of the hood better.

Edit, it isn't as tall as I though so it might just crash right into the cowl panel.

Hoping to get this setup under a stock 71 e body hood. Prefix intake and Wilson 4150 stuffed under a Hemi filter assembly.

OCP makes a dual plane intake that can be configured as EFI or carbureted. fits all timing covers and can be had in early 5.7 port or the larger 6.1/vvt port. they make a TB to carb adaptor as well. flow is similar to a 6.1 intake.

Is this going to be used with your factory throttle cable?

Was talking to someone using the hi ram setup with a holley tb, and there is a bit of a headache surrounding throttle cable configuration. So now I am really leaning towards the prefix with a 4bbl throttle body and then an elbow for my inlet to my blower.

Working on it now. Planning to start getting into the details very soon, along with the lockdown linkage. I'd like to utilize the factory 71' one piece rod that would be standard on a 383/440.

BUMPING this thread back up to the top, wondering if anyone has completed setups using an EFI manifold with a cable driven throttle body. What did you do for throttle cable and mounting?
