Has anyone run across a late build 69 Swinger 340 with 1970 seats from the factory? Build date June 69.

Nope.

There was a discussion here years ago about 69 Swingers getting bucket seat at all.

Bottom lineā€¦ what does the fender tag say?

Not talking about bucket seats. 1970 bench seat with set back release up on side of seat backs.

Shouldn't happen but could have. I know the used the 1970 lower core support starting around May 1969 as I have several of those cars that had them originally. I have seen and documented a 69 Swinger 340 with factory bucket seats also and they were not an available option... wave

Does the bench seat have a 1970 design/pattern? Do the rear seats also?

What does the fender tag say? Notes on Buildsheet?

Front seat has the 70 design. Rear is 69. Fender tag shows D2X
No notes on build sheet

I understand that they are 70 and 69 "design", but do they both have the same cover pattern? shruggy

When I say 70 design, I mean seat release up on side of seat. The upholstery pattern is pretty much the same.

i would think if the upholstery pattern is not exact, then the seat has been changed.
just my opinion. your mileage will vary.

Unless the car was a very late build - what's the SPD? - I doubt that happened on the assembly line.
While I don't know why the seat would be changed, 50 years is a long time...

Car was built in early June. Jim (RhinoDart) said he remembered a car fitting the description back in the day with bucket seats.
Maybe this is the same car that had the bench put back in many moons ago, but used a 70 front seat instead of the correct 69.

I have original upholstery bench seats from both 69 and 70 Swingers sitting in my basement. The upholstery pattern is the same and they both have the seat back releases in the same area on the upper side of the seat back.

Have you removed the seat? There should be an aluminum tag attached to a seat spring, with the production info and stamped date of assembly. May find a build sheet there as well. That would be pretty definitive.

There are two different patterns for the 69 Swinger bench seat, regular and deluxe. Can you post some pics?

The base has a flat textured seating surface, and the deluxe has the pleats (think tuck & roll), IIRC.

Yes, the 70 also had the same, just sold a base 70 bench seat in green that had the same pattern as the base 69 Swinger...

I have never seen a 69 340 Swinger with the seat release up on the side of the seat backs.
