Two days ago the temp was in the 70's. it was short sleeve weather. Now winter has suddenly arrived. 12 degrees tonight. Brrrrr

The mountains in the background got at least 3 times the snow we got. A lot of school closings tomorrow.

Edit: Just watched the news. We got off easy. the bad stuff must have gone south of us.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

We had upper 50s on Wed, and got 1/4" of freezing rain and ice New Years Eve and 6" of fresh snow New Years night through Sunday morning. Got down to -4 F last night and only got to about 15 all day today The sun was shining brightly today though. Fall to winter in 4 days.

There used to be a saying in our area, "If you don't like the weather, wait a day." It seems like it is applying to more of the country these days then just our little corner.

I would like to welcome all of you new weather fans to the Midwestern weather! Might as well enjoy it, cause there is nothing you can do about it. whistling Gene

The storm that went thru here a few days ago dumped snow on us, and our temps went to single digits after it moved east. Snow all over the side streets still, but the main roads are clean and dry. Fell down in a gas station parking lot after stepping on an ice patch hiding under a thin layer of snow dust. flame

Nother storm coming, but temps appear to be much warmer so may get rain instead as the week moves on.

This storm was a little unusual. There was snow from Alabama to New England. Washington D.C. got a lot more snow than we did.
Last winter it snowed twice here. Didn't cover the grass either time. I'm on the edge of the mountains. A few minutes away they get way more snow.

We have also considered the TN/KY area to "winter" in during retirement. Being in WI now, snow twice a year is nothing. Can't do Florida or Arizona so looking for something middle ground. We've been to TN/KY a few times.....really enjoyed it.....beautiful part of the US!

I can tell you for sure that snow flurries were as far South as Fort Walton Beach, FL. Nothing stuck, of course...

14.1" here in Fredericksburg, VA yesterday. I-95 is closed both ways between Richmond and DC. Some people have been stopped in their cars for 16 hours.

Nice little 1/8 drag strip just south of Rogersville. Raced there a bunch of times.
