i think i already know the answer but just looking for info on using the ar engineering (andy f) valley plate part #ar182a under a new aluminum 6 pack intake on a rb block with trick flow 240 heads, i know i need the batwings and 4 gaskets, are there any clearance issues on the bottom of intake to deal with or will this setup work at all?

You'll need to remove the exhaust gas crossover on the bottom of the intake. Mock it up and you'll understand.

I've been looking into this as well. I would like to run a valley plate with my six pack setup too. However, all the valley plates I've found are flat across (except one modified for one particular intake). The six pack intakes "dip down into the valley" of the valley pan. I never considered grinding off a huge section of the bottom of the six pack intake, but I suppose that would work. Many years ago I basically made my own valley plate by cutting up a stock valley pan and using TONS of RTV silicone and I sealed the intake runners with one set of paper gaskets.

Be advised....you "probably" won't need any of those paper gaskets although every old Mopar book you read says you need them. My block was decked .040" and my heads .020" (fyi). I was unable to use even ONE of those gaskets on each side, let alone both gaskets. My intake barely bolts up with ONLY the factory valley pan.

Thanks andy. to the second post, yes i have always used just the factory style valley pan without gaskets but added sealant to both sides, im not sure that can be done with the batwings that andy has, im sure he will chime in.

If it is a factory six pack intake then you most likely don't want to ruin it by removing the cross over. If it is an aftermarket one then just cut off the crossover since you don't need it anyway with the TF240 heads. The crossover is just extra weight when using Trick Flow heads.

its not an original six pack mani. can the batwings be installed with just sealant or do they require gaskets and sealant? maybe the batwings come with instructions, not sure.

made this many years ago. the recess is 6 pak specific. either you cut in a recess or remove the crossover chamber.

Nice, that might work, although at this point im leaning towards the AR setup.

If it doesn't have to look stock, and you have room, seems to me adding an oil-fill neck would be handy.

in early 2003 i made that valley cover for a 6 pak engine i was building. i had always fought the sucking oil thru the intake problem and was looking for a permanent cure. i used it for quite a few years without any issues, but eventually moved away from the idea. i regret not making something with a more universal fit but at the time i was pretty much stuck on 6 paks. i got to where i just addressed the manifold fitment issues directly and left the "band-aid" behind.

I put #12 AN o-ring bosses in a few valley covers. The idea works fine but it adds a lot of extra expense to the design.
