I turn 72 in two days. In the back of my mind is the thought for this season maybe the next I will continue running a reasonably fast car(8.50?) But it's a 115 mile haul plus load, unload, check lash, etc. My bride has her own health battle to fight as well, so our outings will be few. My main goal is to get told SLOW DOWN, your cert is only 8.50😁 at some point I may retire to a slow class where only a helmet and long pants are required. Maybe my mustang, which will run hi elevens and has AC😊

I've drag race off and on since 1964, I quit several times and came back realcrazy grin
I'll be 77 years old at the end of next month and I may be able to sell my current S/P car and have enough money and hopefully ambition to finish the new drag carcar as well as finish two other street car projects I have luck
My wife has been hollering at me more this year for not getting out into the shop before noon and working until after dinner, maybe I'm slowing down whistling
I'll continue to do both drag racing and working on my own street muscle cars until I can't or don't want to anymore twocents

I'm 65 and still in decent shape and I still enjoy the sport but the cost could be the deciding factor for me as I have to keep employed to keep playing. The only time I usually say I'm to old for this is when I'm climbing under the car to pull the trans or motor out. wrench

Yep, I hear you. Same here. Loading up at the end of the day was tiring 20 years ago. lol eek

I hear ya on loading, all I could do to get the ramp door up and closed the other day. I’m looking at one of those cheap winches and jury rig it into the cable. 3 years ago I took the trans out of my van overhauled and back in in a day, this time it took a week and forgot a couple things and had to redo, lol

I am not as chronologically advanced as some of you old guys smile But I plan to race as log as I can at some level. I will admit one reason I sold the Stratus was comfort, it simply was not a comfortable car for me to be in. At this point in life to me being comfortable in the car is a big thing. While maybe not as old as some I am 57 and have had my fair share of injuries over the years and those things tend to creep up on a guy, but do my best to ignore it. The one thing I cannot ignore is being a diabetic and as long as it stays in good control and I feel like I do or close to it now I pan to be runnig a stocker at some of your guys ages laugh2

I'll be 67 this year. I believe racing and working on race cars is some of the best therapy money can buy. I hope to keep it up as long as I can. Lots of injuries through the years and paying for my life style now. This stuff can be alot of work but I still love it !

Just turned the fiddy five card and am wondering about an exit plan. My dad played the game until he was 68 then it just became to hard to crawl around and under the car. My current “mood” in the last few months is that if I sold the car tomorrow I’m not sure that I’d miss it. Going into my 31st year racing and the people I’ve met outshadows the checks and trophies by tenfold.

I had no idea of the ages of some of the people in this thread.

I’ll be 51 in the spring. At least 20 more would be nice.

That is the correct answer! I will race something until they take the keys away and lock me up - I tried quitting racing three times - so that never worked for me and I have been doing this stuff since I was 15 - I am now 58 and I have three cars now - looking at a fourth!

Well Brad...

I plan to live to 99 years old. And I remember Charlie Yingling at MIR raced past 72. So I am thinking age 72 is a good goal. I will be 61 this month.
Maybe longer, 72 seems closer than ever... LOL

I have been down the track every season since 1974, I will be 66 this spring, and I have been asking myself the same question. My issues are I don't take sitting in a fire suit on a 100 degree day like I used to, I have arthritis and after a 6 hour tow to the race I can hardly walk after getting out of the truck, but the big thing is my car is getting faster than the driver, cannot cut a light like I used to, and things seem to happen a lot faster than they used to. And finanically it is costing more to race every year. I might build a slower car, just thinking out loud. But I will mess with cars until the day I die no question about that.
