Does anyone know if there is a source to rebuild these? I'm restoring my original Magnum very soon, and have about all I need except nice bumper shocks.

Aaaand go!!

I have never seen this offered as a service.

I suppose as time goes and cars which use them maybe someone will step up and rebuild/restore them.

When you first posed this question, I started searching online to see if I could come up with anything. It seems other people are asking the same question. I think it was a Porsche site where people were asking about a rebuilder. I don't think they came up with anything either.

Gotta be a lot of them in wrecking yards by now.
Small market plus the liability aspect of something like that would preclude a rebuild service happening, I think.
Just the cost of defending frivolous lawsuits would cripple a company.

Make them solid and to look like the originals. Nothing but a pain in the butt.

What is exactly inside of them? Oil? Are they pressurized? I just cleaned mine on the outside (not pitted) and repainted them.

I think the problem is when they become slightly collapsed. It's almost impossible to pull them out again. Then finding a replacement that is still its original length can be difficult.
