Went to see this car yesterday, has a 340 but was not available in 67. Originally 273 I think.
Californian import about 20 years ago, according to the fendertag an early build car 23th august 1966.
Only issue is the back panel below rear window. Very solid underneath, no ripped seats, nice headliner, complete car,
No diskbrakes though... He is asking 10K euros.
So my question is, when did they start building the cars for the next model year?
Can it be one of the first 1967 model?

Never seen buckets like those in a 67 either…..

Tag date looks like "B23", in which case Nov 23, 1966 would be its scheduled production date.
New models generally start late August of the previous year, in this case 1966.
273 was the biggest SB for '67s.
Yes, ft seats are from something else, no highback buckets in '67.
FWIW, arguably the least popular Brracuda body style, but some folks like them.

That car appears to have a lot of mod's / issue's. I would proceed with caution even at the low asking price.

If your looking for something to drive and have fun with, it looks like it could be a great car for that. If your looking at the car as an investment, I'd keep looking.

A couple things bother me a little. The seat back on the driver seat looks to be reclined back a bit more then it should. The odds are pretty good it is not a reclining seat, so I would want to know if the seat frame is broken, or if the floor boards are rotted away at the rear of the seat mounts. The next thing is the power steering pump with no belt on it, I'd want to know why. The pictures make the body side panels look a bit wavy, I would see how well one of those flat refrigerator magnets would stick to the sides. If those magnets don't want to stick well enough to stay in place and want to slide down or fall off, there is probably a lot of body filler present. None could be a deal breaker, but all could be, depending on what you are looking for.

Again, it could be a great fun car for a few years, but maybe not such a great investment. Gene

It'll never be "original" again, which I don't think is your intent. A solid hot rod platform? Looks like it's good for that, and it's already there.

Yes, the car has issues. Production generally started around the first of August. Fender tag (if original to the car - you need a broadcast sheet to confirm) indicates it left the factory with a 273 four barrel. Buckets, as stated above, are NOT original.

It appears to be missing the Formula S emblems. As said above the front seats are not correct for the car. Did you check the numbers on the motor to verify that it is a 340 and what year it is? Also what is with the power steering? Could be a nice car depending on how much work you want to put into it.

You really need to look at the vinyl top for bubbles. Also they tend to tear the steel around the door strikers. Trunk extensions/quarters. Rear bottom of front fenders brackets. You will find rust. I have done two fastbacks.

No factory fix but there was someone selling a reinforcement plate, lost that info years ago as I have plenty of replacement parts laying around...

Back in the day we used Large thick oversize washers (known as fender washers?) to spread the load out over a larger area. never had one crack

I've repaired 100s of the sheet metal under the striker studs with a piece of 18 gauge sheet metal. If that sheet metal is torn, you also need to fix the wore out door hinges or you will be doing the sheet metal under the strikers again.

I've used the reinforcements available for our 70 Charger for the side-view mirrors and the door handles.

They really add strength to the sheet metal. If the latch reinforcements
are as good, without a doubt, use them.
