I plan on getting my tail lamp housings re-plated but would like to get the bulb socket re plated as well since its showing its age, and they would stick out next to the re-plated tail lamp housings. My question is there any way to remove the socket from the wire without cutting the wire its the original wiring and has never been cut or spliced. I really want to get bulb socket re-plated but also really don't want to cut the wires. Does anyone know of any tricks to remove the socket from the wiring. Or is there any thing I could buy and re-plate the socket at home that would give it the correct finish. I've used JAX Chemical to add patina to home projects. I don't know if there is anything like that to re-plate the sockets. Attaching pictures of what I'm talking about.

You can see where the brass terminal fingers fold over the wire.
Gently pry those up and remove the terminal and reinstall after plating.

Ok will they fold up easily. I thought they were crimped on to tight to try and undo.

Good luck trying to do that, on such a small terminal.
Best to get some new terminals & a GOOD crimp tool.
Cut wire off right where enters terminal.
There's usually always enough slack in wiring to do this.
You're only removing less then 1/2" of wire.

I found a place that sold brass terminals MC001298 in smaller quantities than 100. I think I bought a package of 10 a long time ago
Edit: The link is for reference, it's not the place I bought from.

why not go to the end of the wire where it plugs into the harness, then pop out the terminal from the connector.
feed that through the socket opening, and nothing needs to be cut. it looks like you would have enough room.
unless, of course i'm missing something ? shruggy

I’ve already started to look for a place that will have the solid brass terminal if that turns to my only option. Thanks for the link. Then it’s in the trunk wiring harness I think it would be super hard to try and feed the wire back through the wiring harness
