Looking for a way out of Middl...
I am working on my son's 70 300c convertible,

I have a set of rear cables but the forward cable from the pedal to the adjustment bracket that attaches to the rear cables is frayed and will be short lived.

I can get a brand new cable from the pedal to the adjuster for a 71 but the OEM had different part numbers between 70 and 71.

The design looks the same for 70 and 71, in was in 72 that it changed a lot. the 70/71 wheelbase and just about everything else is the same.

Can I use the 71 cable on a 70?

Anybody know the differences?

Thanks

It's a system. How do the other parts compare? Might just be a length difference or attaching difference.

Thanks for the response.

They are the same design. Unequal length rear cables that feed to the left frame rail near the spring mount to the equalizer that attaches to the front cable.

The part numbers changed a little between the years but that doesn't always mean they won't interchange.

1969
2467502 - Front Cable - According to Raybestos the Cable Length, Overall (IN) 95.375, Housing Length, Overall (IN) 38.625
3420102 - Right Rear Cable - According to Raybestos the Cable Length, Overall (IN) 72.630, Housing Length, Overall (IN) 61.687
3420101 - Left Rear Cable - According to Raybestos the Cable Length, Overall (IN) 34.630, Housing Length, Overall (IN) 25.562
2401768 - Equalizer Bracket

1970
2996060 - Front Cable - I couldn't find information about length
3420102 - Right Rear Cable - According to Raybestos the Cable Length, Overall (IN) 34.625, Housing Length, Overall (IN) 23.625
3420101 - Left Rear Cable - According to Raybestos the Cable Length, Overall (IN) 72.750, Housing Length, Overall (IN) 61.500
2401768 - Equalizer Bracket

1971
3575143 - Front Cable - According to Raybestos the Cable Length, Overall (IN) 94.375 and Housing Length, Overall (IN) 34.875
3467946 - Left Rear cable - I couldn't find information about length
3467974 - Right Rear cable - I couldn't find information about length
2401768 - Equalizer Bracket

I was hoping that somebody had tried this. Hopefully the difference is not enough to worry about. Or since all the parts are available for the 69 just switch all of the cables.

I may just order one and see what I get.
