One of the first 400 block stroker pump gas motors I built was thinner (.035 shock whiney) than that piece is after boring it to 4.375 bore size down
The owner had it sonic tested by a shop close to where he lived, and he said they told him it was fine down
That block cracked the #1 cylinder wall on the cam side after 3 pulls, it made 489 HP at 5500 RPM on the second pull whiney
The whole side of that block was junk, I had a decent shop try to sleeve all four cylinders on the driver side, but it would't take, seal up, the sleeves down shruggy
That was a 1976 block.

I have a mega block and assembly for sale now and “can it be bored to 4.500” is one of the first questions I get. When I bought it I already had a .055 over 440source kit and when I saw how nice the bores were at .030’i ordered a set of .030 pistons and had the assembly rebalanced. I wanted that extra meat
