Probably back around three months ago someone was looking for a heavy duty shop creeper. Man this one looks heavy duty (450 pounds)

I know I'm interested, since I'm 290 lbs wink and I was looking for a rolling seat, too! Thanks for the tip. up

Edited to add: there are almost 2900 reviews on Amazon, 83% 5-star and 12% 4-star. So far so good.

But the (small percentage of) 1- and 2-star are concerning. Apparently quality control is hit-or-miss (drilled holes mispositioned or omitted entirely) and a common complaint is disintegration of the caster ball bearings. This is giving me pause... work

That was me. I saw that one back then and passed on it because a number of people complained that it was too high. Caster are under instead of on the sides like some others. I like the new version of the Bone but it is a bit pricey.

Doc, When are you going to make me a super light super strong carbon fiber and unobtanium creeper? My 40+ year old Crapsman creeper is in tripod mode. No hurry. I have lots of cardboard.

Years ago I had a cheaper version of one of these folding creepers, if I remember, it had a 350lbs capacity (I weighed around 200lbs then). Its still around here to remind me to never again buy one.

When its laid out flat, the weight is distributed between the 6 wheels and other then pretty easily pinching one's self when it flexes as it moves across the floor, (it also pinches easily when its changed between the seat and the creeper), the 6 wheels in the creeper position hold up pretty well. The problem is when it is in the seat position, all the weight is distributed between 4 casters. Those 4 casters don't hold up very well.

The seat height is pretty high, if you are working on a vehicle on a floor jack, you will be ducking down to get under the fender and will keep leaning over while you work. In the seat position, the framework had a lot of movement. It positions past over center, so it won't fold down (there is a locking lever), but you really can't sit on it and roll around because the 4 casters can't support the weight. The looseness in the frame gives you the feeling of it being unstable in the seat position, if you try to roll around, but for however long the 4 casters lived, it never did falter in the seating position, but it sure felt like it could have at any time.

Maybe the design has changed, but I doubt it. Gene

OK, i was going to design it like a hovercraft. No casters to break. I was going to cut you in on the astronomical profits. You could have been the next Elon Musk.

I use an old office chair and remove the arms and back. it looks a little white trash but the base and seat are wider and more stable. It has a better weight limit and they are easy to come by. Somebody is always replacing them in their home/office.

I think a lot of people on here are blaming weight but when you are wrenching down on a bolt most of us do not think about how much extra stress that we put on the creeper. Even a 100lb guy could overload a 250lb creeper pushing the wrong way.

I've seen some of you guys before... scrambling around on the floor getting up and down all the time doing an impromptu sit-up every now and then would do you some good. Heck, don't even fix the car and just WALK to the grocery store instead... and then don't buy anything.

When were you in my garage???? LOL!
Its 88' from the garage door to the street. There have been several times I've walked both directions on the same day... I have to take the (2) roily bins to the street for garbage pickup, then drag them back up to the garage the next day. That walking doesn't bother me much. Its stairs that get me. We live in a ranch style house. There are 22 steps down to the basement. If I need to make 3-4 trips up and down those steps in a matter of minutes, I do some huffing and puffing after that last trip up for a few minutes. It is time to start walking again, I have to see if the old treadmill still works.

And that guy that said that when I'm laying on my creeper and pushing the wrench up excerpts extra force on the creeper wheels may help me understand why the same set of wheels always break on the 6 wheel creepers. Guess I never gave that much thought. At 6'1" and 270lbs, I can excerpt a lot of pressure on a 350lbs capacity creeper by pushing up on a wrench or my 2' breaker bar. Gene
