I just read about a new fuel that is made by combining hydrogen and I believe it is magnesium. The product can be stored safely in a canister, has 100 times the storage capacity of a lithium battery. All it takes to turn this paste into power is add water! The reaction releases the hydrogen in the paste and also the hydrogen in the water used to activate it. This could power a hydrogen fuel cell or directly run an internal combustion motor, or charge battery's of an EV while powering the vehicle as well. I haveno idea of production costs but if they are reasonable you could end up having a triple hybrid capable of powering your house in a blackout, or power a construction site. Think of it. Pull up to the fueling station and buying fifty pounds of paste H fuel, in an exchange canister . Top off the water tank and have a 600 mile range. It may take some time toget this going if it is cost effective enough to do with today's tech. It would appear on the surface to be a major breakthrough in low carbon emissions fuel. Time to build some nucleur power plants to supply the power for production.
On another note, somebody (Bill Gates?) Is working on very small nuclear generators, small enough for a single home. We are on the edge of major changes in how we power most every thing. Think of all the possibility a, and these are the ones we know about now. Tomorrow may be much brighter.

I will hold out buying a EV car as long as I can, but I'm also not ignorant to what they can and can't do. It's interesting reading the comments, and seeing how little people know about them. What a Tesla can do is mind boggling. How Tesla's business took off, is what I can't stand about them.

These EV's wouldn't have even made it this far without gov. subsidies. Could you imagine if they were 140,000 grand to buy how many would be out there. What concerns me is that we are past the subsidies phase, into the regulation phase, next well all have to have ev's per the legislation phase. Then the subsidies go away and we'll pay 150,000 grand for a new car that will be a battery powered electric motor and take 4 days to go from PA to FL. and every other reality check fact posted above.
I'm waiting for the first EV with solar panels fastened to the roof.

The issues are cost of production, and size and expense of the on v.ehicle conversion equipment. Hydrogen has to be stored in at enough pressure to provide a interum storage before use as an engine fuel if you want to power an internal combustion engine, not sure what that would entail. I think there are a lot of good possibilitys.

Damn guyz... good stuff and excellent points  Any one have any idea on the costs of the Tesla driveline and battery packs .... Only 240 charging ? And I HEAR YA jX ... I’m jealous toooo ! I should have bought some T stock instead of my small orchard of AAPLs ...
