What on this earth would possess someone to do a full blown restoration with a Hemi added on a car with a state issued VIN? Not saying the car is "dirty" or illegal and I appreciate the Owner's honesty but there is a lot of money invested in that car. Nice combo. It looks beautiful.

it might have been a body-swap or there was a fraudulent "R" VIN on it & was confiscated/other shruggy

That makes sense- and I should have thought of it. In that instance, somebody took a painful bath.

That’s got to be a bummer for somebody. Probably not a bad ask in today’s climate. Shaker, body color underneath. Four speed. Good color. If all you want to do is drive, you’d struggle to build it any cheaper.

I want my fair share

I agree on that. A non hemi cuda with a hemi and shaker.... hard to beat that price all restored. Get in, drive and not worry about #s....

When Hemi Motors are getting top dollars and if the restoration is good under the paint the car makes for a real nice driver. I see there are some non 1970 parts on the car but if it is a drive then hard to go wrong at that price.

I had a 71 Duster /6 with a NY assigned VIN,it was all legit probably was a stolen & recovered vehi. and or abandoned so that doesn't scare me,the cuda may have had a mint or very clean body, why let it go to waste.

You can do whatever to it with not much to worry about. Not a factory Hemi, what’s the difference if it had a 318 or a state issued VIN. Nice clone!

I’m pretty sure this car was on the east coast (New York area) and I was found to be a fake Hemi car with a fake Hemi vin. I’m pretty sure this car is a Cuda and not a 318 car either. I’m trying to remember if I read the story on the internet or in a magazine, but it’s been a bunch of years ago. Can’t forget a vitamin c Hemi cuda with a argent shaker.

There was an orange hemi cuda 6 or 7 years ago that Mecum sold and had to buy back when it was found to be fake.
I saw it being sold at their Chicago/Schaumburg auction on a bill of sale only. It had the VIN tag, fender tag etc removed. I don’t have any pictures or if I did I would have to dig around to find, but I seem to recall it had a white interior so this may be the same car.
Didn’t Galen get banned from Mecum auctions around that time for exposing a fake hemi cuda at one of their auctions around that time? Maybe that car I saw with no VIN?

I have a 70 Cuda that I did just that. Car started life as a Real big block N-code 383 4-speed Cuda. Now upgraded to 426 Mega block hemi,18 spline,Strange S60. So changing to a ralley dash didn't seem to be a big deal But I get crap all the time for it being a late 71 dash. Not to mention how often I hear it didn't come with a white hockey stripe.Lol

Change rims back and forth to change look depending on the mood.

I will say I'd be tempted to sell it at their asking price. I don't drive it enough.

NICE !!! I am glad they are not Challengers. When it comes to e-bodies my only desire to own one would be a 70 Challenger.
Still tempting from an investment perspective wink

EDIT: BTW I like the white hockey stripe.

Thanks. Funny I saw the white RT stripe on a B5 70 Challenger I loved and wanted to buy back in high school but even thou I had the cash Dad said no. Years later I still love the look and it's not my fault they weren't smart enough to offer it like they did on the Dodge. Lol

The car will always be a challenge to sell. It may check all the boxes, but most buyers would shy away.
