Hello
I thought I'd try this forum first.
Recently bought an Allied paint gun at local thrift store. It's a siphon gun with the can below. Handle is black with allied cast into both sides. I found no ID marks on the gun and have not been able to find anyone with spare parts online.

I know you can buy new guns at Harbor Freight for next to nothing but I'd like to get this one up and running. I know absolutely nothing about paint guns and half expect to get an answer like "recycle it" but I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks,
R.

Probably a knock-off of a more mainstream/big name old gun.
I would think a paint jobber that has some older guys on staff might look at it and know what it is & what parts will work.

iagree And will say i seem to remember them in the 70's-80's as being exactly what Topside said. I will add that the parts if found may exceed the value. The HF guns are like higher quality to boot. Wall art IMO unless your painting patio furniture. beer

Post a pic if you would I think ive one as well and a bunch of other old school guns. It is crazy that I bought a HF one maybe 15-18 years ago and its as good as any at least for the older paints I have and use.

i am a PPG certified painter / autobody tech with a lot of years experience.

without a pic, from past experiences it's probably a cheap copy of a binks 7 spray gun.
with today's modern paint tech it's significantly inefficient and will waste a lot of materials to use it. modern gravity guns will waste less paint and spray as good as or better that what you have.
in my opinion it probably isn't worth the time to get it to work.

our shop USED to use a similar gun for spraying liquid mask. in the end with the poor efficiency and overspray it wasn't worth the effort to use it. we now just use plastic masking rolls.

laugh2 I was trying to remember whether it'd be a Binks 7 or an 18 - used both back in the Funny Car & offroad fiberglass days of the '70s...
There was also the DeVilbiss that a lot of guys used.
First knockoff gun I had back then was a "Central", and it lasted decades, but was definitely low-tech...
