Anyone have a recommendation for 14 foot ceiling shop lighting? And where to buy?

A year or so back I replaced the fluorescent double 4-footers with the Harbor Freight double LED-tube units @ $18.99 per fixture.
9 fixtures in a 30x40 shop.
Nearly doubled the light, apples to apples comparison.
Mine are about 9 ft above floor, and most of the walls & ceiling are white, FWIW.

Are you going to have an electrician do the install to code with wall switches, multiple circuits and conduit? If so then I'd ask the electrician for an recommendation. You can find a ton of light fixtures online but a good electrician will know which fixtures are good quality and which ones are available and which ones have bulbs which can be easily sourced and all that kind of stuff.

LED shop fixtures are getting better & seemingly cheaper.
Usually 1/2 wattage of flour bulbs.
Wiring less critical wrt total wattage, so no need for electrician to get invloved,
Unless you're really concerned about foot-candles/lumens at surfaces.
Much lighter in weight then any flour fixtures.
Hang with small link-chains to desired height.
Instant start-on & even in colder temps.
Easy to string together with plugs/sockets both ends.
Good flour bulbs are getting harder to find.
Cheaper ones don't last long if switched frequently.

I found that had to get use to the "light color",
appears to "harsh" at first use.

Be sure and go to a good electrical supply house to get good leds. I bought a cheap fixture at Lowes and it last three months.

about a year ago my friend replaced 4' florescent lights with round LED lights in his retail auto repair shop with 25'+ ceilings. my friend commented his electric bill went down and had much better lighting in his shop.
i don't know the brand. i can ask my friend what they used but chances are he really doesn't know the exact type a electrician installed them.

i could take a pic when i visit him on saturday if you want one.

Andy - I'm doing it myself. I have engineered my fair share of industrial lighting over the years, but It was all old school. LED is a completely new world and I want to make it right. And 14 foot can make it a little tricky.

My target is 55 foot candles in general areas and 70 foot candles in high precision areas.

This is my shop lighting. I used an on-line lighting calculator to determine the spacing and number of fixtures to get 75 lumens. I used salvaged fluorescent troffers and retrofitted with led bulbs. I've been very happy with the results.

'67 is an abbreviation of 1967
67' is an abbreviation of 67 feet
They are not interchangeable.

I'm using I believe standard (non LED) T-5 fixtures and I think the bulbs are rated down to 30 degrees. My garage has a heater but I only use it when I'm out there working in the fall/winter and have never had a bulb fail/break.

14" shop walls and ceiling in these photos, about 8 years old.....

Lighting technology has moved on since then, so I will stay away from that part.

I did go with 45 degree mounting for these lights though, this allows the light to reflect down and across evenly, using those surfaces to reflect.

It helps to eliminate shadows.

I bought these from Amazon...

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G51C54...aWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl

I haven't got them installed yet and only plan on using two in a 17' x 28' bay...they may need to have a dimmer switch used as they are bright...

I also bought 12 of the small fixtures for around the outside bulkheads where my ceiling height is only 8'

If I need to add a dimmer switch for these as well I will...

As someone said above, all LED fixtures are not created equally. Some are high quality that will last for a long long time.

Some are cheap junk that will fail in about the same time as an incandescent bulb. Let the buyer beware...

We added an attached garage to our house 2 years ago. It's 24' by 24-30 (It's at an angle to the house) and has 11' ceilings. I ordered 2 bulb 4' LED fixtures from PrimeLights.com If I remember correctly we installed 6 of them. My wife does crafts and it lights up the garage nicely and isn't any shadow areas, but that's mainly due to light placement. At the time the lights were very reasonable. My father in law has since built a 40x40 and I told him about them, but the price has went up a good bit since I bought them (But what hasn't). He ended up going with 8' LED lights from his electrician and paid a pretty penny for them. I think I emailed PrimeLights about my garage size and layout and they gave me their recommendation. I'm very pleased with them for the price.

I'm not using anything state of the art.
Just some budget friendly (translation: free) 8 foot fixtures I rebuilt with new ballasts and a little white spray paint.

They were originally T12s but I bought a lot of T8 ballasts for next to nothing and went that way. At the time LED was not very popular yet.

these have worked pretty well since 2011 or so, I'm pretty happy with them
and I have a bunch of extras that can be added if the desire for more light.
