I believe that would entail a frame rework.

Do you mean cut the long bed down to a short bed? My buddy does chevys all the time I think you could do it with a dodge as well.

Yep, roughly 18" out of the long box frame between the wheel base, to accommodate the short box.
If you don't have a short box to install, you will need to cut about 18" off the front of the 8' bed as well.

You would be ahead of the game to find a short box truck if you really want a short box truck.

Yep I'm talking just the box. Having a hard time finding a real nice short box around here. I have a real nice spare long box so I was thinking....... work

Chevy boxes are bolt together where as Dodge boxes are welded together

There is a difference behind the wheel as well...4" shorter.
Simply need to cut 16" (115 "wb from 131"wb = 16") from the frame rails between the front box mount and the start of the rear axle rise. then section the box similarly. For the rear frame rails (behind the axle) lop the frame off at the forward most bumper hole then remove the next 4” and weld the bumper section back on.Then section the rear of the box 4" from betwene the wheel tub and the rear box mount. More body work than frame work.

Well that is a game changer. I've always thought that they were the same on the back end. Guess I'm still looking for a nice short box and now have a nice long box for sale.
Thanks guys for the info.

It would be a long way to come get it, but a friend here has 2 Short beds, one real nice and one with a little rust in the front floor, otherwise good bed.

And he needs the money, his semi just blew up.

It takes gasoline to interest me.

Ya that is a bit far for me, thanks though. I live on the edge of the Southwest Desert so you would think I could find one around here? Nooooooooooo. There are a couple in CA but that is still a bit far.
