I sold my beloved truck in November 2019. The new owner just called me and let me know it's been stolen. Someone heard glass breaking so guessing there's a missing window? He's in the St. Louis, Mo. area. It's pretty distinctive so if you see it let the local police know. It's a one of none truck, note the tailgate, there were NO one ton off road trucks built, I bought the decal and seat covers. Pics attached.

So why are we posting without real details.

If there was rear concern why not post a current tag # and a vin and the real things that would id the truck?

Looks nice, someone picked a good one.

He has no pictures, that's why he asked me if I still had mine. He has no idea I'd try to help him out, I was so rattled when he called I didn't know what I was going to do past getting him the photos. I'm thinking even as dumb as breaking the window was the thief is smart enough to pull the plates and put on phonies? I really didn't think anybody would walk up to a thieves domain and start checking VIN's? Mebbe I'm wrong? shruggy

If someone has any other ideas I'm open to hearing them. I'm afraid the truck is going to be cut up if it hasn't been already.

Anyway, just in case, here's the VIN: 1B7MF33731J516889

Just the morning I awoke from a dream where my wife asked me to move my truck, (she can't drive a stick) we got a laugh out of it, until this evening.

as nice as that truck is, my guess is it's either getting cut up as we speak, or is on it's way to a dock somewhere to be shipped overseas.
hope it comes back, but the way vehicle supply is today, the odds are not very good.

That totally sucks ! . . . you keep your vehicle nice - for you - and then you have to lock it up like Fort Knox in order to keep it ! . . . a few years ago, someone tried to steal my 02 Cummins. Lucky for me, they don't know how to drive stick ! . . . punched door lock in (way easy), unlocked it, then bust the ignition lock with vice grips or pipe wrench . . . rolled drivers side window down (thankfully not broke it) . . . but guess they couldn't figure out you have to push the clutch pedal down to start the truck ! LOL . . . Yay for me !! . . . still, was an insurance claim, etc . . . but at least I still have my truck !! I leave a steering wheel lock bar on it now - I know, they can get that off, but takes em more time . . .

Wishing the best to find the truck . . .

Thanks guys. That's one thing I changed, my Freightliner didn't need the clutch depressed so I did away with the (PITA) interlock. I was kinda surprised they took the smash and grab tactic, the door vulnerability being so well known. I remember when they tried to steal Mark's truck.

I'm really hoping he gets it back pretty much unscathed, I regarded as much as an adoption as a sale. I think he's been a good steward for the truck.

A few years ago my little brother got his truck stolen (he was being stupid, warming it up outside unlocked @ 5 in the morning). He got it back and repaired it but it should have been totaled. He traded it shortly afterwards. I swear if you give a thief a rubber hammer no anvil in sight is safe...

I was looking on line last night about what becomes stolen cars in these modern times, seems either brief joyriders who destroy the ride or the big money parts get sold or off to another country. Either way it dont look good and your truck looked really clean. Hate it for the current owner and you as well with all you did to keep it nice only to have some POS jack it.

After going to some third world countries its not a shock as even the worst places have many US built cars and trucks running around with no plates, missing parts, ect.

I don't know, I was reluctant to contact him for a follow up, that's all I got. I assume since he used the words total loss it was recovered severely damaged or parted. It seems to me to be too soon to declare it lost, maybe one of the insurance guys knows the criteria they use for lost?

Sad to hear, that was a nice truck. I would have had a hard time parting with it being so clean.

On a similar note, I don't understand the destructiveness of the theft of these generation of trucks. Punching the lock in, breaking the window, etc. Just stupid thieves. Anyone who has locked themselves out of one of these should know how ridiculously easy this generation of Dodge was to break into without doing any damage whatsoever.

GAWD DAMN... rant

text update:

1. Need oval office rules cops cant (sic) chase if bad guy exceeds speed limit by 20 MPH. Thrre (sic) is no law left.
2. Pulled some parts and burned it in street.

And they got their high and went looking for a way to fund their next fix... rant

Local idiots were much smarter 36 years ago, boss got his new truck stolen and they just hosed it down with dish soap, no muss, no fuss, no undue attention and the cops won't even try for fingerprints.

especially today, when used vehicles are worth way more than any time in history.

Wife's 96 Saturn go jacked out of my driveway as I was putting her 78 T/A away for the winter about 20 years ago. They found it a couple towns over after about two weeks, wheels and tires gone and the entire interior blasted with hair spray so the fingerprints couldn't be lifted. Insurance repaired it and almost cost them what it was worth, wife didn't want to drive it afterwards though, someone molested her baby... frown
