I picked up these cool Road Runner Decals today. I have never seen them and was wondering if anyone else has ever seen them. I can't find any dates on the packaging they came in but it looks pretty old. I'm guessing they were given to dealers to put in the dealerships windows back in the day. There were 3 decals in the large envelope, 2 face left and 1 faces right. They measure about 2 feet long.

1969 Car of the year stickers. Dealers were to put them on the doors of Road Runners. Those are in great shape. Great with the box too.

There are also the small rectangular "Car of the year" stickers and the big "Car of the year" Quarter panel stickers.

There’s a promo pic from an old magazine road test that shows some guys standing with the door open on a car with huge bird on it. Probably one of those decals you have. I saw a ghosted image of a big one on my first car. Had poor prep for repaint along the way, but once you sanded lightly some on it those faded on away.

There is a letter sent out to each of the Plymouth dealers reminding them to put the small rectangular stickers on every Road Runner they sell so that the public would see that the Road Runner was the Car of the year. Inexpensive advertising of the time.

I like the idea of putting it behind glass and framing them. Looks good. Thanks for the picture.

I had these out of the large envelope/box they came in.
When I went to put them back in I noticed there was still something in there. My lucky day I guess. There was two more in there. So I now have a total of five of these gems. Thanks to everyone helping me identify what they are.

I would keep all the packaging and boxes related to the decals as well.

I went ahead and framed one of my decals today. Turned out pretty good. Sorry for all of the reflections on the glass.
