The one I have been using for almost 50 years broke a wheel. I know there have been a few different designs come out over the years. What are you using and would you recommend it?

I have had several different ones over the years I always seem to have problems with them as the wheels are always coming loose and falling off. I think is just the way that the wheels are attached as they always come loose. I don't even use them a lot but it seems to be an ongoing problem with every brand I purchase.

I've had the same problem. Last one I got came from NAPA. OK for a while, then one of the wheels came apart. That was a few years ago.
I think I'm going to get some replacement casters from AgriSupply and see if they'll work on it.

I have had one of those big ole dog done shaped creepers for over 25+ years. So far it is indestructible. Still has original wheels. Good thing about the wheels. They are like 5" in dia and roll right over cracks easily.

I have had same one for years, with one wheel that likes to fall off all the time . . . so, basically don't use it, just a tarp thrown down and slide around on that .. .lol. buy em cheap on sale ($10) and throw out when ripped up, etc. . .

i tries putting wheels on my cardboard creepers years ago, but that didn't work out so well...............

I received one of the magic creepers for a present. Works great and comfortable. Nice under a low
profile car like a Vette or any newer car.

the only real drawback to cardboard creepers, they are hard to "store". but when they get dirty, they can be flipped over and used some more.
i have seen those "magic creepers" advertised, and they look pretty appealing to me.
however, i have a lifetime supply [or a supply that will last as long as i do ] of cardboard, so i'll just use that up.

I also use the blue foam sheets as pictured that I get from my buddy who works at a paint and body shop that all of their new body panels come wrapped in. It is water proof, liquid wipe right off, it's padded about 1/2" thick, doesn't catch on fire when welding and is slippery. You can just slide in and out right under the car.

Hi moparts , I'll be the first to say I have 2 Snap-Ons , a JC23 fixed headrest and a JC26 adjustable headrest . When the wheels fail , I hand them to my Snap-On Tool Guy and wait for a Free replacement . I buy enough stuff from him that he can give me a few wheels every few years . I do find myself grabbing the JC23 more these days but both are very nice , well designed and Low to the ground creepers . Ronnie

I've got 3 or 4 Harbor Freight worn out broken creepers in the shop with bad wheels, I would love to find one good one that would live longer than 1 to 2 years

Same thing at Summit is $35. 250# weight limit. I might be a little heavier than that.
Harbour freight is also $35 and 300# limit.

Summit's worthless warranty starts with "Summit Racing Equipment® warrants this product for one year from the date of purchase. If the product is used for racing or competition, this warranty is limited to manufacturer defects only; wear and breakage are not covered under any circumstances". Does anybody race creepers? Are there SFI spec creepers? Do they have to be replaced every 2 years. Who sells 3/4 race wheels for them?

Myself, as a bigger guy, the plastic creepers and two piece creepers do not hold up well.

It is pretty easy to find a solid frame creeper for about $30 and I get a few years out of it. They will last indefinitely if you get better casters but the casters cost more then the creeper so it is a balancing act.

Like most here I have used cardboard as a low clearance creeper since before I had a real creeper. Probably why my creeper has lasted as long as it has. I have a life time supply of cardboard now. The previous owner of this house shipped dulcimers all over the world. There are stacks of unused boxes in my attic. I still want to replace my creeper as it's always easier for an old fat guy to roll than wiggle around on cardboard.

the blue foam usually covers Ford bumpers. the smooth side is only on one side. VW uses similar stuff to wrap bumpers but puts the smooth part on both sides of the foam. lately VW has been using a different cheaper grade of foam. they also have started to wrap bumpers in special paper with 5 layers instead of foam on some bumpers. so i don't have access to as much foam as i used to get.
the nice part of the foam is it also has insulating properties when laying on cold concrete.
this also makes excellent packing material when shipping.

in the past i used to use rigid Styrofoam they use to put on the outside of houses. this can get $$$ if you have to buy it.

We should all go on a diet. Our bodies a d creepers would last longer. That’s it I’m doing it. I’m going to start next week. 😂

Garage creepers are disposable items.
Until the last scrap run, I had 3 or 4 creeper frames with missing and/or broken wheels, and broken plywood. The hard plastic ones crack and drag on the floor until the wheels break. None of then are any good.

When I started swapping out the wheels from one frame to another, I got another year (maybe) out of the repaired creeper.

A few years ago I stumbled across a couple plastic chairs that came with caster wheels, I cut them off the chair and welded them to the creeper frames. They have actually worked pretty well, as long as the floor doesn't have cracks, or cords laying on them you roll over with the creeper. Unfortunately, those chair casters raised up the creeper off the floor another inch, and I only had 8 casters. When these casters are gone, or this last creeper frame breaks, I'm going the cardboard creeper process. My days working under stuff is rapidly coming to an end anyway. Gene
