EDIT: I have found a place that can powder coat my dash. It'll be a lot cheaper if I can either supply him with powder or locate where the powder is for our dashes.. He's not accustomed to powder coating OEM black suede.. Anyone have a source for the proper powder?

Thanks again...
Troy

Hey gang..
Comtemplating two possibilities, painting my dash frame or having it powder coated.. Anyone have experience with outcome and price between the two?

I'm also thinking about the grille header on my '68 Charger R/T.

I had my bee's dash powder coated. Finish looks as original. I got the mixture info from AZA12bee as he had his done before me and the look is dead nuts on. If you need I will see if I can find that code and or post a pic.

Usually getting things powdercoated will cost less than getting them painted, there is no need to sand, grind and wire the rust off,all parts are blasted and special etch-primed prior powdercoating, also it's alot more durable than any paint

Was the original dash finish a suede finish? I didn't know they could do non-glossy with powder coating if so...

Does anyone know of a source to get about 5 to 10 lbs of the black suede powder?

Troy,.....The closest your going to get to black suede, is "black textured" from www.eastwood.com

black textured #11870 2 lbs $25, 5lbs $48, 10 lbs $95...

.are you sure you want suede for the dash frame?......I always finish the steering columns in suede, dashes generally in satin,
if you need satin powder, the # is 10103 same prices
if you log onto eastwood for powder tech info use keyword...... powder,....hope this helps

You can't powder coat filler and if the surface has any defects, it will show. Also, I believe it generally will be thicker than painted? Any fine details like stamped in date codes will not be sharp.
