Has anyone noticed Clevite bearings are discontinued for our Mopars and are getting harder to find? There are some STD sets lingering around but if you need any undersized you’re out of luck and soon there will be nothing. I emailed Clevite/Mahle and they told me they would think about making them if they deemed there was enough interest. So lets light up their email asking for them! Please!

I got a pretty quick response to my inquiry:

I think you have been told some information that's not totally correct.

We are not exiting the Mopar bearing business. In fact some of our highest volume parts are Mopar based bearings.

I purchase dozens of sets of bearings every week. Just like everything else these days everything is on back order. What was once a shelf item now takes up to 12-14 weeks to get. Even with planning ahead, we still can't get enough product in to fill the demand. It's not just Mahle/Clevite. It's everyone.

General Comments/Suggestions/Inquiries

Question: Hello they are finally making new 440 blocks again and you can't buy Clevite bearings for one because they are discontinued.MS1277HG in STD and .010" under, CB527HND in STD and .010" under. Any chance you would ever make them again?

Response:

Hello Chris,

Regarding you question on bearings. We would have to look into the potential volume of the part to bring it back.

Subject: Re: ASK MAHLE Aftermarket - General Comments/Suggestions/Inquiries

Response from Chris:

So it is possible! What do you need, a thousand emails of people that want them? lol

Response from Tod:

Your best solution would be to purchase a minimum order quantity of 1000pc and cover any needed tooling then you could have complete control over the parts and hold the inventory.

That’s another option for you to think about.

We're all having problems getting the most basic things due to Covid, but this has been a problem since 2016.

I started using he Seal power full narrow groove H.D. truck main bearings for trucks several years up Part # 4500M scope
Also been using their BB Chevy rod bearings on all my stroker motor builds with that rod bearing journal size also, several different widths available scope

I have been running King bearings in my 440's and Hemi's with no issues. We have also been using hundreds of sets of Kings in all of our other crate, custom and racing engine build applications with no issues. Seems to be the equivalent to Clevites. Or even better.

That's good to hear as I couldn't get the Clevites for my stroker in .001 under so we ordered some King's. I was a little nervous.

I've used several sets of King BB Chevy rod bearings to get the clearances I wanted with no issues other than the ugly looking finish on them work shruggy

What part number main bearings do you typically use?
MB5116XP
MB5116HP

Do you typically need an extra clearance bearing to get about 0.0030" clearance? i.e. for a crank with 2.7492" journal dia.
i.e. STDX bearings

I have been running the MS-1277HG main bearings in my race motors for years.
But I don't see any -10 under on Summit's site right now. My new motor is standard size (new Callies crank), so it is not an issue for this build.
