Why would after 21 years a cat sleep or lay in a doorway or middle of a floor.
Always under foot.
Then last night tripped over her sending me into a door case opening hurting the crap out if my left foot.
Now I have black and purple toes. Yes right into a,soild maple door case.
And I just get a dirty look from her as she slowly walks away.
Of course I just got some parts I was, waiting for now for 5 maybe 6 months.
I think it was a plot.

While never having owned one, I've taken care of my brother's and his wife's cats, and a neighborhood cat likes to hang around my house, so I've learned; cats are very devious smile

There is a reason it's called a catapult.

I've had a couple of cats that would do that: pick a spot they want and not budge.
It will make sense when you accept that it's the cat's home and you're the human attendant laugh2

They are trying to get your attention and from their vantage point they can keep an eye on their house. Ask me how I know.

At least you didnt accidentally kick the cat and hurt it bad enough to kill it. The military taught me to walk like ive a purpose and some place to be and most the time I wear work boots, from broke ribs to internal injuries. I hate it but ive hurt many like this and they all died. Id rather my foot of been like yours vs dead cats.

IIt's all about control. Mine seem to do the same thing. Then they control all that passes them. You are aware that if there are aliens among us, they are Cats. Vet tells me in school they teach about all the animals and then there are cats.

We used to have cats that would do that a few times before they learned to quit doing it. Its my house, if they want to reside there, they learn to stay out of my way. You usually don't have to kick them too hard, but you do have to kick them every time until they learn, no free passes. My wife would complain, and I'd tell her "Keep them out of my way, or I will, the only other option is to not have them in the house." We don't have cats anymore.

We just have one dog at a time.

If you think women can be vindictive, you've obviously never owned a cat.................

Does your cat have his or her own bed? If not, then what the hell do you expect?

Cats prefer to sleep in places where they feel absolutely safe or where they have ease of escape. An open doorway if she's not feeling particularly comfortable means easy ability to bolt should she sense danger.

As much as it sounds like I'm coddling a Millennial, cats want a safe space. Put his/her bed in a warm, quiet space away from people. As they are also creatures of habit, it will be super easy to locate them, too.

My last kitty Ivan was such a creature, you could set your watch to the little bast****. If he was outside, he'd be AT the back door at 8:30 pm. If he was inside, he had four locations he'd be:

#1 If daytime, backrest of the couch, laying in the sun
#2 His bed
#3 My bed
#4 My computer chair

That's sort of how I knew he was gone when I came home one night and he was not in ANY of his spots. It was so unlike Ivan to NOT be in his spots.... right from Day 1, he loved his bed.

You or anyone else would only kick my cat[s] once.

we've had cats and dogs for 30 years. Never had a cat lay in the doorway. The wife's Bassett...loves to lay in doorways.

Had lots of cats around here, they learn pretty quickly. If your cat causes you problems, the issue isn't with the cat, its with the weak cat owner. A disobedient pet needs to be taught discipline, or it needs to be someplace else. As for the guy telling me I'd only kick his cat once, I don't generally go around kicking cats, but if they are too stupid to stay out of my way, all bets are off. I suspect your cats rule your place, I wouldn't be there very long anyway.

45 years with the same woman, we both have learned a lot. 40 years with a daughter, we brought her up pretty well. Lots of years working with women, once I understand where they are coming from I've learned to work around their weaknesses, those that hang around have learned to work around mine. I don't have problems with either cats or women

One simple fact, cats rule and dogs drool! They WILL lay in your way for reasons mentioned above. We left for a 10 day vacation last week and have pet sitters that come twice a day as the cats are just a little over one year old and have never been alone before. The female was crying this morning and obviously stressed, the pet sitter petted her for over an hour until she calmed down. The male cats just want fed and let outside, which we only do supervised so they are a quart low. At least we know they will be happy to see us tomorrow... boogie

How many have seen the BBC TV program where they put GPS collars on dozens of cats in a village and track their movements 24/7 ?

Getting a cat to lay where you want them too is easy.

Just lay an open, empty cardboard box there.
