Do you run a cable or solid rod on your drag car?

Stock 64 throttle cable. Then needed something longer. Now a $20 universal braided throttle cable. In 9 years (750 passes) of running the only throttle issues; were broken carb stud, broken weld on the stock pedal pivot. Never any cable issues.

Solid rod, like on a chassis car, or Morse cable, like on a dragster, with a toe hook on the pedal is a little extra safety deal if the throttle hangs or springs break.

Using a stock cable, make sure the return springs are in good shape.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

i haven't seen or heard of a toe hook on the gas pedal in a long time, my S/P car doesn't have one with a the big Morse cable for the gas pedal shruggy

I got one. Wompin' it or lifting, I know the throttle is going to follow the foot.

I changed out the cable for a direct rod on my 64 Plymouth. My reaction times became more precise and consistent.
