I have two new vacuum cannisters from Summit. One is stamped AH-10 and the arm starts to move at less than 5 inches. The other is stamped AH-6 and the arm starts to move at 10 inches. Are they miss-labeled? Which one is the usual can for a 74 440 HP?
Thanks, Ken

the number should mean how many degrees are in the unit. check to see if you can stick a 3/32" allen wrench into the nipple and connect to a screw. if so the units are adjustable for vacuum pull and you can pretty much set them were you want. the 10 would be close for a stock 440.

the number on the arm usually refers to the timing advance, not the vacuum. the vacuum is adjustable as mentioned.

The arms are stamped opposite to the ink stamping on the cannister. the 10 is 6 and the 6 is 10.
The notches on the arms are the same, so I think the advance that each unit gives is the same. The allen screw seems effective on one more than the other.
So I will by the arm stampings and ignore the ink stamps.
