Can't believe it took this long to fit in a visit. Being I watched at the track, RP dog Fireball Roberts in his Smokey Y. Pontiac for most of the 1962 Daytona 500, in his underdog 62 Plymouth, with little chance of ever improving on 2nd place, I have been a loyal respectful fan ever since.

If RP souvenirs are thing, you will be happy.
If you want some personal 4 generation insightful behind the pit wall Petty family racing struggles, watch BOTH of the movies.
The one narrated by Kevin Costner is excellent.

I spent nearly 4 hrs there, and up

Don't forget, RP is not getting any younger.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

If you want pictures just google "Richard Petty Museum". Go to images and there are plenty there. Pretty easy to find.

Is picture taking allowed there? Some museums prohibit photos taken inside. This happened to me at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland...all use of cameras/cell phone pics inside are prohibited. twocents

Excellent, glad you made it there. I should probably make that a scheduled destination. Probably only a 3 hour drive.

Facts are stubborn things.

Thanks for the heads-up, I'll be sure to get a visit next time we are in NC!
It's not very far from family & friends in Charlotte and Winston-Salem.

Yeah well I am pretty sure they will let you take all the pictures you like. Years ago when I was there when the team was still using the shops behind it, one of the ladies at the desk in there asked everyone there (about 8 or 10 of us) would you all like to see the race shop? Why yes, yes I would. They walked us out a side door and about 25 feet across the parking lot and there were 7 or 8 versions of the 43 Pontiacs for all the different tracks. Did not get the quarter tour but VERY laid back and friendly. At the time I think it was like 3 bucks to get in. About 45 minutes from here. Todd
