Great Fall weather riding time is here and wondering if there are any other Adventure or Dual Sport riders on here and if you have any rides planned............and even if you have any kind of motorcycle i.e., cruiser, sport bike, touring, etc., are you heading out for a ride? There's a large group of Ohio Motorcycle Adventure Riders here in the state and lots of downloadable GPS routes available for all different levels of rides from all paved to extreme dual sport level. Lots of fun. Went on a ride a couple of months ago and one of the group riders looked familiar........turned out to be the Cleveland ABC channel weekday morning weather forecasters on his BMW Adventure bike.....good rider too boot up This type of riding is so much fun as you go places you wouldn't normally ride....big fun around here is back country Amish farm roads and they all wave and smile. We all slow down to a crawl so to not scare the horses. Get Out There and RIDE!

Mike

Not an adventure rider. Own a 2019 Indian FTR1200 and an 83 Suzuki GS1100E. I have been paying attention to the Harley Davidson Pan America and their new Sportster S. The 1250 cc liquid cooled DOHC engine in those bikes are very special with the Pan Am making over 150hp and lots or torque. The Sportster S making over 120Hp. You know Harley has done something CORRECT when their traditional loyal customers hate both of these new bikes.

Keep old mopars alive.

I do a lot of that type riding, though as I've gotten older, I limit my off road portion. Here is a pic some years ago in Wyoming on my BMW GS:

Yep, traded in my Harley for a dual-sport. Honda CRF450RL. I had way too many bikes and not enough space/time for them. Now, this bike fills all the roles the other bikes used to. Been commuting to work with it and have an offroad trip coming up this weekend in Michigan. I've been neglecting my Mopars to ride this thing.

I've never done an ADV trip, but plan to try one on this bike next year at some point.

Do you ever travel outside of Ohio for your ADV rides? Tons of awesome spots if you head east a little further!

I have a Harley, a Grom, and my "ADV" bike is a 2010 WR250X Supermoto. Not really adventure capable, but I did just buy Continental TKC70/70 Rocks tires for it in the hopes of making it more ADV like.

This was taken in Wellsville, Ohio. Not pictured was the absolute pucker factor trying to go down a dry, dusty, gravelly hill with those mostly bald Battleaxes on it. shock

I've ridden out of state more than a few times but not in recent months or make that a year or so. This past spring I got a bike I've had since, believe it or not, 1988 a 1989 model year KTM Incas 600 (single) and went on a 200 mile Amish country Ohio Adventure ride. The Incas was KTM's first actual "Adventure" and "Rally" bike back in the '80's and that and the BMW "GS" set the stage for things to come. No electric starter on this one so you need to be on your game and it will fire on one or two kicks. If you're not then it's KTM.........Kick Ten Minutes or Kick Till Monday........ laugh2 laugh2

Definitely thanks for the link, will have to check some of those out. There is so much great riding right at the foothills of the Appalachians!

The hot dog spot looks like a great destination ride too.

I just got back from a road trip, went to Pittsburgh again, rode in Wellsville (went much further than my friend with his Vespa, lol), did Skyline Drive in Virginia, and stopped in Cherokee, NC too. Did the usual Tail of the Dragon/Skyway loop on my WR250X and absolutely loved it. Have done it before on my Road King but this is the first time on something nimble and it was legitimately a life changing experience. shock laugh2

Mike, have you ever ridden in the Wayne National Forest in SE Ohio? I've seen some recent youtube vids from it and the trails look amazing, not really whooped out at all. Wondering if it would be a good trip to take from the Detroit area.
