I used to run a tube/fin style transmission cooler, but once I went to a 8" looser convertor it wasn't large enough to keep the trans cool in late rounds. I have since switched to a large Plate style cooler and now in the later rounds the trans never sees above 200. Problem is I have a heck of a time getting heat in the trans in the earlier rounds. My car likes to pickup .001-.002 each run until the trans is around 145+ or so (gauge is in bottom of a deep pan). I see there's a few companies that make inline thermostat for transmission. Does anyone use one and what brand would you recommend?

Maybe put a pre heater on the trans pan blanket style or plug that is directly in the oil.I am sure you can run the car in gear on the stand but I don't like to do that myself.

If you are shooting for consistency then I'd use an intercooler rather than a cooler. Use the engine coolant on the other side of the intercooler rather than air. That way the transmission fluid will run at the same temp as the engine which is probably 180 degrees.

Is this a footbrake car or a transbrake car?

You can stall it to get some temp in it. 8”converter will heat up pretty quick.

Not really. You have to abuse it on jackstands to get any heat in it.

Easiest thing to do is change the number on the window, if you know what your car will do. Mine would pick up a couple if it didn't cool for 45 minutes or more. Put some numbers in it and carry on.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

This ^^^^^
On my Charger I run it through the cooler 1st then to the Radiator cooler, it does keep the fluid about the same as coolant temp
