as far as i can tell, you have to pay attention to the castings on the ends of the heads. see post #17 and a few following here for pics...

Look for the big flat spot on the end of the head, that will either be an EQ or RHS/Indy. Beyond that the pushrod hole is drilled on the RHS/Indy and is cast on the EQ, this allows the RHS to be opened slightly more at the pinch but the EQ is a nice improvement over the stock head and the stock head is a nice improvement over the speedmaster flow wise, the speedmaster and the chinese versions are garbage in the flow department, much worse than stock. The R/T head also has the drilled PR hole and has a big R/T logo cast in by the exhaust side. If anyone has a pair of used RHS EQ or RT and the original poster don't want them I do.

good info up. A local guy has a new set of em in the Australian EQ boxes for $1350. Is that an OK price?

I have not bought any in a long time, that was almost the price of an assembled edelbrock head back when I last checked.

I don't think that are made in Aussy land anymore. That head and others have been made in china for years. The casting are not the same and the metal content too. A better head than old used factory castings but not the same as 10+ years ago.

A question for you, if you have to have a iron, non-modified head for a certain class, the old eq is by far the best. They are not available anywhere, what is that worth? Imca rules for example.

R/T and RHS are both better than the EQ, I prefer the old RHS pre-indy butt only ever seen one set of those.

I just looked on their site, can't find em, maybe they don't make em anymore? I see a place on fleabay supposedly selling bare edelbrocks $900 pair butt can't find any of the others available new anywhere, looks like the "EQ" sold on fleabay is just a re-boxed chinese copy... that sucks, looks like the best readily available option would be a re-man factory head.

Maybe a year or so ago a guy had a new set of Aussie EQ heads for sale on eBay, he was asking roughly $2000 for them. I do not remember if they were bare or not, yes a obvious difference but still. I bought many in the $350 each price range. Ya, wish I would of bought more but never seen this coming. I have never had a set of r/t or rhs heads. The EQ heads were popular here for circle track guys, they even were a national imca sponsor for awhile. If running one of these iron head classes you would surely be giving up a bit with a factory head. The new EQ heads look identical to the speedmaster iron head, I think they would be a good head for a daily driver, but the ports seem small to me. I believe someone on maybe Abodies only threw a set on the flow bench and they weren't pretty. Not sure if they guy on EBay sold them heads or not, I didn't follow up on it.

i emailed Indy a few weeks ago and asked about the LA-X and the MA-X heads. They don't have them now, they don't have a supplier. They said hopefully next year they will get them going again.

I just got lucky and picked up a set of Indy X heads done by IMM engines when I picked up a core 360 motor. I was going to run some aluminum heads but since I just got these I will run them. I don't think any OOTB aluminum heads (besides Trick Flows) would flow as well as the IMM prepped LA-X heads..
