On many Mopars I see quotes of how many of a particular exact models were produced with the same color/options like 1 of 10, or 3 of 20 and so on. Where do you get this type of info. I have a 70 440-6 Cuda and I am interested in knowing how many like it were made. I have seen the overall V code production figures for 1970 I believe there were more than 1800 of them produced. I have known the overall production for years, the exact production of the same optioned cars is what I am looking for.

Numbers like that happen when people lie, magazine articles too.

If every option on every 70 Hemi Cuda convertible were known, it would be possible to do that as one example.

Except for the ones with fake fender tags any the made up VIN cars that would taint the data.

If you ask anyone making a claim of 'One of ?? with these options' - Ask them for proof and they will not have any. Chrysler did not track information that way.

It's a best guess calculation (statistics) based on some "known" info.
Here's something based on colors and models for Challenger
Example:
955 R/T convertibles built
Plum crazy was most popular color at 22.2%
So best guess is there were 955 x 22.2% = 222 Plum Crazy R/T convertibles built that year.

Those are one line item row numbers from Chrysler.

I believe the OP is referring to combining multiple row of options. There are other individual option reports that chart an option per body and/or model type. Then mis-using statistics with bad reasoning.

yes..only 20 W23 built..and they had exact numbers due to the recall.. only 1 known of the 20 to still exist

IMO in all his years he has done more harm then good. Fools that are not wise to him swoon until they dont.

Say what you will about him but he has done a lot of research to get the amount of info he has. Look on his web site for the "little white books" these things are like gold for info in them!
I have looked for details like how many 1971 road runners came with air grabbers(i have one) but still can't find anything. from what i can guess it's about 1000 but it's not documented. If any knows please post it. You can look up paint and engine combos all day but some options there are no info.

Galen Govier's "white books" contain production figures based on Chrysler Corp.'s "OPTION & ACCESSORY REPORTS" that represent the majority of US shipped units (as of a certain date in time during August 1970)

for example: the '70 'cuda hardtop (BS23) numbers are based on 88.5% of total production, this leaves 2,170 '70 'cuda hardtops uncounted in this report

the only pertinent combined OPTIONS covered by this report: BODY (BS23) / ENGINE / TRANSMISSION / AXLE PACKAGE (if equipped)

the 1971 Road Runner (RM23) report covers 96.1% of total production (13,664 VS. 14,218 total production), 11.2% of these 1971 Road Runners are equipped with the OPTIONAL "Air Grabber" (N96) hood ***** roughly 1,530 cars

none of these type numbers (based on percentages) are absolutes, the '71 RM23 numbers are +/- 7 units, additionally there are ~554 uncounted cars (3.9% of total production)

Who else but Chrysler would have such production/option info? Granted some figures may not be 100% accurate. I would think the bulk of uncounted vehicles where exports not for north America. Are the Australian (right hand drive cars) included in those production #'? Between Galen and the Chrysler historical society is going to be the best "guess" (if you will) on actual figures.

Shady people will use his name to fool buyers. Still trying to figure out why that would mean much to a potential buyer. They should buy the car, not someone's 'expert' opinion.

The 'white books' are incomplete and have errors too.

So if anyone says one of 'whatever' made, ask for proof.

If someone says 'one of whatever known' ask them what day they were told that.

Registry data constantly changes as the 'next one' is reported.
